Re: Your weirdist gig?

I played a wedding on a penisula with a small one lane road for access. They had buses bring the guests in from where they had parked. At the end of the gig, as we were packing and the guest were...

Re: Paiste ownership decimated for now :(

Would that every Californian felt the same. We might yet save our fare city from the hordes of people flocking here from the west.

Re: Can you tell a big difference?

Another factor in listening to clips off the internet is the quality of your D to A converter, in addition to whatever speakers you're listening through. There is a difference between a $2500 Apogee...

Re: Struggling with Renowns

Word. I can understand not liking the weight, or the 22x18 BD being difficult to move, but a struggle to tune? Nah. I've never found the need to detune the 5th lug either.

Glad the OP got it...

Re: Kenny Aronoff with John Fogerty

OK then, yeah, Fogerty played most of the leads, mainly on a Les Paul and a Telecaster, and performed admirably. I wouldn't call his style shredding at all though, more pentatonic blues based, but...

Re: Kenny Aronoff with John Fogerty

Yes, they did Old Man Down the Road, Centerfield, a new one he co wrote with Billy Gibbons, which was a nod to La Grange in style. Mostly they did CCR, too many to recall exactly. I do remember Born...

Kenny Aronoff with John Fogerty

Last Saturday morning the girl friend won 2 tickets for John Fogerty performing that night at the White Water Ampitheater, in the heart of the TX hill country, and the heat of a Texas summer night. ...

Re: guitars too loud, why?!!

#austinreggaefest

Played Friday, had a blast. Backline guitar amps were a JC120, Deluxe Reverb, and 4x10 Deville.

Re: guitars too loud, why?!!

Well, you don't know me, that much is clear.

Look, I get it they 're common in some styles. Play what you want to play through. As for making me feel better, debatable.

Re: guitars too loud, why?!!

Ah, one guy says I'm fortunate, one gentleman feels sympathy for me. Whatever. Most working, pro guitarists don't use 8x12 rigs in clubs, but there's always exceptions. Btw, Eclipse, I'm (the band...

Re: guitars too loud, why?!!

I haven't seen a guitarist bring a "stack" to a gig in 40 something years.

Re: MB's Random Question Thread

I'd recommend several homework assignments. First, learn the cheap and pro cymbal lines from the big 3 makers. Common advice is to avoid the cheap lines.

Zip over to Memphis Drum Shop, and also...

KAT drum pad with DW5000 drum trigger pedal. An ebay purchase. It's kind of cool. I never use it.

Re: Noob first snare paralysis

Dry, crisp, cheap, utility. I feel like I got all that with a used Acrolite, but I prefer more medium tuning.

Re: Jeff Porcaro

Ah, my bad. In any event thanks Merlin, will work on that.
I looked for the interview, couldn't find. Maybe it was Black Friday, that's another difficult one, and love the wicked intro fill on that....

Re: Jeff Porcaro

I read/saw an interview where JP was saying he was growing frustrated trying to nail "Reeling in the Years." He took a break, saying they'd be better off with another drummer. Fagen and Becker came...
