Re: Decided to try this new look!

I would be afraid to take 1/4" off the hoops for fear of creating a weak spot. Home depot sells various hardwoods in 1/4" thickness, and it would be fairly simple to make some spacers to match the...

Re: Help finding specific Pearl tom lugs

Some of the higher end drums' lugs may be reproduced for restoration purposes I doubt you will find too much demand for new Forum Series parts. Your best bet is to look for orphan drums or even...

Re: Dented Shell

That thing needs some serious bodywork---since he said it is the same on both sides it's fairly obvious that it was done deliberately---Idiots should not be allowed to "work" on drums!

Re: Dented Shell

I guess nobody looked at the second picture---someone used a hammer to make the snare bed deeper---that is not normal :(

Re: Does adding this Tom make sense?

12, 13, 16 is the old standard. I'm not sure when the fusion sizes came out, or why. I personally can't stand the sound of those little toy 10" toms.

Re: Tuning toms and snare

Counting turns does not mean the lugs are all tuned the same---you need equal HEAD TENSION at each lug---tap the head at each lug until they sound the same. AFTER they are all at the same pitch you...

Re: Tuning toms and snare

I still don't understand why nobody wants to learn how to tune their drums properly---and easily---I can tune an expensive kit, or a cheap to sound great without any gadgets or phone apps in a few...

Re: Tuning toms and snare

Go to tunadrum.com, and read through the whole thing---no videos, but lots of pictures and diagrams. Or you can watch 100 hours of YouTube videos and still be frustrated :( Tuning drums is not rocket...

Re: Crazy Ass Deals. Legit?

I have to go with P.T. Barnum on this one---$3000 Yammies for $100? PPG is right---Identity theft here we come :(

Re: Can a very (!) cheap drumset sound ok..?

That isn't a cheap drumset---it's a child's toy with expensive mics, and heavily processed sound. THIS is a cheap drumset that DOES sound good---without any electronic manipulation.

Re: Need some help choosing a snare.

This question has been asked 100's of times on here---try doing some research for yourself, and interacting with forum members for a while before asking a question like this. It's like asking a room...

Re: 2 up with a 12" tom as the smallest

Another 12 13 16 fan here! Both of my current kits are 12x10, 13x11, 16x16, 22x14---I have no problem getting them to sound great---10 inch toms just don't sound right to me.

Re: Beginner Kid's Kit

My daughter wanted to get my grandson a kit for his 8th birthday. He's been playing mine since he was 5, and wanted set at home. I told her I would handle it, and gave him one of my kits instead of...

Re: Worst Badge in the Business

I don't have a problem with Mapex---mine were very classy, and understated---especially on this kit :)

Re: Wood stain on a Fiberskyn !

I use Minwax Golden Oak on my Maple guitar necks---just slightly darkens the wood, and brings out the grain. Top it off with a couple of light coats of satin clear, and all is good. I don't see why...

Re: Wood stain on a Fiberskyn !

I like it! I can't stand the look of white drumheads, so maybe I'm a bit biased, but matching the bass reso to the color of the shells is a cool idea. The selection of different colors of wood stain...

Re: what to people mean by "cheap" drums?

This is an ultra-cheap kit---I paid $125 for the 5-piece set at a pawn shop. The shells are perfectly round, the bearing edges are flat and true, the lugs/mounts are solid, and the wrap is not...

Re: Sorry Neil......Ringo and Paul has much more "feel" than you

When I pay money to see a band that I like I expect to hear the music like it was on the record---and I certainly don't care to hear a bunch of improv by "the new guy" I can see a cover band for free...

Since you didn't specifically say drum gear---this was my first electric guitar, and I will never sell her!

Re: guitars too loud, why?!!

Amazing how far this thread has strayed from the original post. It started out as practicing too loud, took a hard left at insulting each others' taste in music, continued down the road to insulting...

Re: Installing a tom mount on a virgin bass drum..

Just a thought---if you are using L-rod mounts on the toms there is no reason the down-tube needs to go through the shell---just cut it off at the height you need, and use a gasket under the mount....

Re: Need Deep Drums like Dave Grohl

That red Power V kit is pretty sweet for $400! And it comes with a snare!
