Re: Ludwig Legacy - Classic Maple Kits

Your vintage kit is basically the same as the Legacy. You are talking about giving up a lot of drums to get the same thing. If the finish and sizes you have are not what you want, then go for it. ...

Re: An already great day gets better -- free drums for me!

Great job.

I had considered doing something similar for a project kit that I had last year, but ended up selling it instead as I was concerned about the cost of the project versus how I thought...

Re: iDrumTech issue - anyone else having problems

Great. Thanks.

Is there a way to preview the sound of the kits prior to purchasing the download?

iDrumTech issue - anyone else having problems

I can't get the app to open anymore. I downloaded an update recently, but had not opened the app in a couple of weeks. I just deleted it and reinstalled it and it still wont open.

I tried to...

Re: DW Performance series or Gretsch Renown?

I have not spent any real time behind the Performance kit, but I liked the ones I did play.

I do own a Collectors and a Renown, and had an MCX. Great finishes on the MCX and rock solid hardware....

Re: Dw Lugs UGLY!!!!!

I like look of the DW lugs better than the lugs on some of my other kits. The chrome looks nice and I have no worries about it taking away any sustain or resonance. These babies sing for days.

Re: Don't know if i should trade

I would take that trade all day long. The Reference is certainly more expensive. More importantly to me, you would be getting more sounds and drums -- birch, maple and mahogany.

You could do the...

Re: Trading DW performance for Ludwig Keystone? Terrible Idea?

Both are great kits, just different. I would try messing with head combinations and tunings before making a move. You seemed to like your friends Performance kit after all. Maybe ask him to spend...

Re: Premier 60s mahogany Duroplastic

Go to the Pearldrummersforum.com and look up UKTubThumper. He has several of these kits and will likely be able to give you some good history and pricing insight.

FYI - a little known drummer...

Re: Gretsch or Crush?

Ouch, that is a shame.

Personally, I would not accept a store credit from GC or any store. If they did not insure the kit that is their problem, not yours. I would want my refund back through...

Re: Right foot getting worse! But I think I know why

Try angling the bass (and pedal) a little bit. IT might give your heel a little more access to the pedal.

I would also recommend trying to look at your foot / leg. It helps me to concentrate...

Re: Kit re-arrange/sell advice requested

What about the Gretsch Catalina maple kits? They were available in a honey colored natural finish at one point and a wine colored finish. I think they may offer another finish or 2 now as well.

Re: Kit dilemma.

I would not spend money on a rewrap for the Groove Kit personally. If I did not need the Groove kit, I would sell it and buy a matching floor tom for the Ludwig.

The current floor tom may be...

Re: Need help finding Gretsch renown silver slate sparkle

Congrats on finding the extra drums. I recently got lucky and found an 8" on Amazon to round out my Blue Burst Renown (8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 22, with the 6.5x14 snare).

I just put new coated G2's...

Re: Please Help!!

Try this first: Take a rubber mallet and lightly tap the screws. If that doesn't work, hit harder. The pounding should loosen the rust.

If that doesn't work as a last resort, try some sort of...

I am looking forward to playing it with the kit.

I am running clear emps over the original clear 1 ply heads.

Are you using coated G2's? What do you think of them? I have ben thinking of...

Re: Why aren't Recording Customs popular today?

I live in a major metropoitan area with national and mom/pop music stores and I have owned an RC for a year or so. But, I had never seen one in person before I bought it off a private seller.

Re: Yamaha Stage Custom vs Pearl Vision Birch

It really is the fastest method I have seen. I don't use it on all of my kits, but it makes the ones I do use it on sound nice and deep and tubby.

I forgot to add that it is tougher to do with...

Re: gretsch broadkaster, should i buy?

That kit is not a Broadkaster nor a Renown. I have called that store a few times and they call it a BK "replica" or "tribute" kit. It has Catalina shells. NO silver sealer, cheaper lugs, etc.

Re: New Pearl Session Studio Classic

I have seen 2 of these in GC. They look great in the Platinum Mist finish.

This series is a mix ply shells of Birch and Kapur, which is a mahogany that is used in the Yamaha PHX series, BTW. The...

Re: Anyone know about 1975 - ish Premier Baron set ?

I remember drooling over that 1975 Premier Catalog as a youngster. That blue Baron outfit was definitely one of the dream kits for me even though I had never seen one in person and still haven't to...
