Re: 6 years of playing - have i lost my way?

I reached a similar point at about the 7 yr. mark. Although, I had been well aquainted with rudiments I grew tired of my style and the music I was playing. I actually changed my approach to a...

Re: Does the shell material really matter?

I think for snares it's definitely important. I play drums in my church and have triad several snares. The drums are almost never amplified. The difference between the stock steel snare and my...

A couple of friends at church. We all actually play in the church band. I see them once or twice a week. That's pretty much it for me.

Re: Is there a difference betwen a Ghost note and a Grace note?

Typically a grace note usually precedes another note almost like a flam. Ghost notes don't necessarily precede or follow another note. They are regular notes in a pattern that are just played...

Re: vinnie paul snare?

I dove in and decided to get one it will be here in 2 days. I think it's just what I'm looking for. I like the sound he had on damage plan which is definitely a deep shelled drum.

Re: Ludwig Gold Sparkles

I have a set of Gold sparkle Ludwigs. In good lighting they pop. I tried to upload some pics but they are too big. I like red too but I'm partial to the gold. It looks modern yet vintage too.

Mapex pro basswood snare?

Has anyone tried the 8x14 basswood snare from mapex? I saw it today and wondered how it actually sounded. It looked okay except I'm not a fan of black hardware.
