Re: Hey all you Drum Workshop fan boys...

I've also heard of folks having problems with the latest round of OS patches. Maybe that is it.

Re: DW Custom Order Factory Production Time

I ordered a custom snare (6.5X14 w/gold hardware) with a satin finish 22 weeks ago and still haven't received it.

Re: Peart old Slingerland snare and Tama 79-81 drum set

I'm looking at the Taking Center Stage book and it says that both Neil's Superstar and Artstar kits were made of birch.I would assume that the old Slingerland "Artist" Series snare was likely the...

Re: DW Custom Drum Orders Matched to Existing Kit

I added a wrap tom and it was perfectly matched. I sent them my order number and notes in the shells and got it in about 6 weeks.

Peart Time Machine Snare Shell Note?

I really like the sound I heard when Rush came through on the CA Tour. But as I am not a drum collector but instead a player, I don't want destroy such a good looking snare. Can one of you who own...

Re: Just got a new Black Beauty.

I'd keep the Ludwig on the snare side. I am a very big Remo fan, however the super thin Ludwig snare side head is probably the best out there. It is crimped in such a way that it can take a huge...

Re: Nylon vs. Chrome Tension Rod Washers

I can't stand nylon washers, particularly on a snare. I tend to tune snares pretty high so I split nylon washers in no time.

Black Beauty Don't

I wanted more durability on my snare batter head so thought I'd try a Coated Emperor X. Not a good idea. It was worse that sticking moon gel all over the head. Definitely lost the sound that makes a...

DW Service = The Best

So a few days ago I was giving one of my 2008 DW Snares a thorough cleaning. Because the inside of this particular snare is varnished I didn't think about the fact that using Pledge might remove the...

Re: Pearl Free-Floating Maple Snare

I have one on the back of my kit. It is the 14 X 3.5. Now here is the thing. It sounded good tuned fairly low and medium and even high. But me, I wanted to try something unique. For a long time I had...

Re: How to make small drums sound bigger, fuller, warmer? (Gretsch Catalina)

A Kick Port helped my little Gretsch Catalina Club Jazz out a lot. I have an 18 inch BD on that also.

Re: Did they make Black Beauties in the 40's, 50's or 60's?

Really? Where did you hear that? I kind of hope they do. I've been seeing used Black Beauties going pretty cheap at places like Guitar Center lately. I would love to see them scale back a bit. Black...

I should be getting my new DW Snare next week. I got something a little different this time. Instead of the Maple Collectors I got a Birch Collectors, X-Shell, Natural finish, 5.5 X 14, and no sound...

Re: Neil Peart rack tom set up

I played one up and 2 down with the ride over the BD for a while. Once I saw the T4E setup I realized I could have more toms if I tried his setup. I did and I like it. I have a 8,8,10, and 12 on the...

Re: Drum Tuning Problems

Additionally, I find sometimes that I can't get the sound I want at my first try. I step away for an hour or so and come back with fresh ears.

Re: question about floor toms

If you are going to play a lot of Rush or Zeppelin then you'll want it. Remember Buddy Rich used 2 floor toms too. He played one and used the other as a towel rack for his sweat towel.

Re: Help me ID this tama snare

I believe it is an older Tama Artwood Maple snare. Good snare I had a 5 X 13 version of it. Lots of crack and loud.

Re: Help a Snare Ho. Which snare next?

I love Oz. Love the land, the accents, etc. Well except that like 8 of the 10 deadliest snakes in the world are indigenous to Australia including the Fierce snake. Both of my cars are Australian (a...
