Luckily I don't mind playing the Great American Songbook stuff and dance music, Latin, disco etc... not my favorite per se but it does offer nice venues on sunny summer days, outside and with yupps...

Upgrade your venues. Stay out of bars. Weddings? Bar Mitsvah's? Parties? Receptions? Corporate gigs? Holiday functions? Fests? Car Shows? Harbor Cruises?

Moongel makes the drums sound very nice for the drummer but out in the audience drums sound much better without...

Pick you gigs accordingly. A group I was associated with at one point played fests, weddings, private parties, etc... largely because I absolutely refused to play in a bar. Well... I was fooled...
