Re: That Erskine kit at NAMM

Peter played a yellow Yamaha kit back in the day with Jaco.

I would never get a yellow kit though. That's reserved for Tony. I don't sound like Tony.

Now orange I could do. Or even lime green.

Re: Snare Beds????

It's probably a very subtle bed that starts further than you think. You probably have to remove the head and gently sit the drum on a flat surface to see it.

Re: Gretsch difference

If you're not getting the USA Customs, or the new Broadkasters, forget about it. You may as well get Tama or Yamaha.

The Gretsch name is what it is due to their sound from the 50s to the 70s. The...

Re: Peter Erskine moves to Tama...

His choice of drum sizes (26" bass drum, 14" tom) played a big part of that too.

Have you been living under a rock? KMC is no longer involved with Gretsch.

Re: My Band Frustrations

No biggie. It sounds like you've got time to join another band. No need to quit this first one though. It's always wise to be involved with a couple of situations. Good luck.

Re: DW aquires Gretsch and Latin Percussion...

Actually, they did used to make their own shells, from around 1900 to the late 50s. They started getting their shells supplied by Jasper Wood in the late 50s. From then through to around 2003, Jasper...

Re: Hilarious! Gretsch/DW

Just random names. I figured I would use some very non-German sounding names. :)

Re: Is it OK to talk about the movie "Whiplash" yet?

Finer points? I saw the movie. Nothing "fine" about it, except for the acting. The story is lacking, goes nowhere, and generally suffers. The premise of the whole thing is beyond ridiculous.

Re: The official, "Your services are no longer required" thread

Now you can focus your drumming on music that you honestly care about, without the need for monetary compensation. Just find some like-minded musos and get a regular thing going on the side....

Re: Dry heads for ludwig blackrolite acrolite snare?

This is the head you want. Dry, and it will look amazing on that black drum:

Re: Phil Collins Back In Action

That was almost a year ago. Since then, he's been unable to really perform, so time will tell if he comes out of retirement.

Re: DW aquires Gretsch and Latin Percussion...

Exactly, and DW drums sounded a million times better before they started making their own shells? Why is that?

If DW starts making Gretsch's shells, they're done for.

Re: Sonor Prolite pricing?

I would expect $700 minimum, but $800 is fair. $500 if you need to move it.
