Re: Are the Sakae Almighty-series the same as Yamaha Recording Custom?

I disagree. The edges I think you can make an argument for, but not so much for the hardware

Early Yamaha RCs used to have split single lugs, and the sound difference was very subtle

Re: Are the Sakae Almighty-series the same as Yamaha Recording Custom?

The biggest difference is wood. Youíre talking about 2 different kits using 2 different types of birch. You might as well be comparing a mahogany or an oak or something. Different lugs and mounts...

Re: Maybe I'm done compensating for my height ;)

I feel like if you already have a Gretsch USA kit, what would be the point of owning another maple/gum? Theyíre different kits obviously and Iím sure they sound different, but if youíre gonna buy a...

Re: Additional sounds needed.

The Yamaha Ead10 has a few inputs for sample pads so you can play electronic sounds while having an extra mic on your kit too

For all that it does, itís really great for the money youíll spend on...

Re: TaRon Lockett (don't sleep on this guy!!!)

Just started following this guy on social media about a week ago. I think I might see Cory Henry in may, I hope TaRon will be playing

Re: Maybe I'm done compensating for my height ;)

Why not go with an older rogers kit? 12, 14, 16 and 20 would be a real fun set to mess around with

Plus, in my opinion, any drum collection isn’t complete without at least one rogers set

Or...

Drum commercials

Not even really into metal or super heavy rock, but this new commercial is so well done by Yamaha

https://youtu.be/LmdVOYIL2hs

Zildjian had a pretty cool commercial featuring Bryan Carter a...

Re: Weights inside new Yamaha bass drum. Can someone explain how this works?

Also, the discontinued line of oak drums had a reputation for having an amazing sounding bass drum with tons of low end already. I think Yamaha recognized that feedback and tried to make something...

Re: Weights inside new Yamaha bass drum. Can someone explain how this works?

I’ll say this. Yamaha moved production to China to save money on production costs. And if you look at the kits they are offering, most of them share the same lug design, which saves money on...

I like Boís Gretsch set a lot better, I canít put my finger on it but the finish is slightly different and is something special

But Bo should definitely add another floor tom, have a proper blues...

Re: is it cheaper to buy individual drums to complete a set?

It can be cheaper, but only if you buy used. However used drums can be in great, almost mint condition, so I wouldn’t have a problem pursuing orphaned drums

It will take some time to find each...

Re: Interesting Observation Regarding Drum Quality and Sound Preferences

Iíve only heard that when it comes to vintage ludwigs the quality is inconsistent. Sometimes youíll get a really great sounding drum and sometimes itíll be less than perfect

Re: Native American Snare Drum

Very cool links. I'm surprised more people don't draw inspiration from older ancestral drumming. Drums have definitely been a huge part of human history and we should really study this kind of stuff...

Never played any of these, but I heard Brady makes a really high quality walnut snare

But you can't go wrong with craviotto or noble and cooley. And a snare from any of these companies will either...
