Re: Realistic Expectations

I read that loud and clear from your first post. Don't give up is right!
I've found that the joys of even getting little grooves down tightly is extremely rewarding and translates into a smoother...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

Both of those Weckl model sticks are my favorites, and go-to sticks for most everything. Great bounce and focus.

Re: Need some advice

Check out the Sonor Player kit that Sam Ash sells.
It has a 20 x 12 bass drum and has had great reviews. Very compact but quality sounding, just replace stock heads.

SLOWING DOWN YOUTUBE VIDEOS

In prepping for some covers for an upcoming gig, I found a few decent cover videos where I thought the drummers were playing close to the studio version of the song.
But their movements were too...

Re: played (maybe joined) in blues band

My situation is almost identical to Louis's, being with a rock cover band that can't start or finish a song correctly. I'm forming a blues oriented trio, or at least trying to do so.
Agree with...

I've watched The Last Waltz before, but never saw this "Alternate Footage."

STEVIE WONDER!

I was listening to Higher Ground this morning, which inspired me to listen to Sir Duke, which inspired me to find out more about SW's drum kit. I've always loved SW's drumming and grooves.
In...

After watching Bill Bachman's latest Hand to Hand flams YouTube video, I'm simply in awe (again) of how clear his instructional videos are to watch, as he takes the time to explain each step of the...

Just realized that Junior Wells' drummer, "Below", used a kit with only 1 cymbal--to crash and ride.
I wonder what cymbals were used then-- perhaps a 20" or 21" Zildjian ride, one that was lighter...

Some Fine Blues Drumming early 60s

Classic recordings, clear audio and video from American Folk Blues Festivals, '63-'66.
This drummer really rocks out with Junior Wells on his Ludwigs. And watch Junior shake, rattle and moon dance!...
