Re: Ludwig Standards - new toy!

I had a 5 pc. standard kit from 72 till around 82. They really did sound pretty good.

Re: Wheels

Temperature could also be a concern. If you are where it gets very hot.

Re: "Square" Ludwigs

I'm guessing your drums are from the 80's. Same depth as diameter were quite common back then. I'm surprised that you can't find one. I've got power sizes (yamaha) 10X12 12X13 etc. Their square sized...

Re: Can we start a list of well-known studio recordings that have sloppy drumming in them?

I remember trying to play black dog when it first came out. I decided that guy didn't know how to play the drums. To me, it was just wrong. Of course I don't think that now.

Re: Beater talk...

I've been using Danmar red wood beaters, for over 20 yr. They're not so red anymore. I've used the cobra and speed cobra beaters also, but my favorites are the Danmar's.

Re: Double pedalling

Ya, once in a while, not very often. I think most of the guys that are real good play for several Hr. everyday. I practice about like you, so I'm not real good, but I'm not giving up. Keep on going,...

Re: So,I Got a Brass Sensitone..

Congrats on the new snare. You're probably right on the 500.00 sound difference. I've never had a Pearl, or BB but I can't imagine there would be 500 worth of difference.New snares are always fun,...

Zoom R8 advise

I noticed a Zoom R8 recorder on Craig's list for 175. I currently don't have any mics, or mixer. This looks like it might be a good thing to record with. There's also a Peavey PV14 mixer in price...

Re: The social stigma attached to Metal...

I think Christian Death Metal is a term that fits quite well. I Die Daily, is a name I've considered for a band name. It comes from the bible. The Apostle Paul said that.

Re: Gadd telling it like it is ..... :adult language:

There is a place for both. If a drummer were to just play 2&4 in metal music, it wouldn't be metal. If I played 1/16 notes on the Dbl. kick in my country band, it wouldn't be country. There is a time...

Re: Left Hand Disability?

I think there is nothing wrong. Some people learn muscule controll or memory rather fast, some don't. Six yrs. is not very long. I bet you are average or better, for someone playing six yrs. I just...

Re: Got a new pie

AAX cymbals are up pretty high on my list. I have an AA Elsabor 13" salsa splash that I really like. If you like it, then it's exciting. Who did you see at the clinic?

Got a new pie

I sold a Pioneer Ludwig snare for 180 last Wed. trying to raise enough cash to get a 17" K or Sig. Then Sat. I went to my favorite drum store and found a used 16" Paiste Sig. Fast Crash for 180. So I...

Re: Yamaha Japanese made drums

I remember M. D. did an "Inside Yamaha" article several yr.ago. The reporter said when they got to the building, the sign didn't even say Yamaha. I can't remember what it said. but I bet it was...

Re: I'm in a band

I was standing behind the mains watching Robert play. Then I walked around, right in front of the mains, without thinking about my ears. It literally hurt. I was with a original christian band called...

Re: I'm in a band

That's cool. I play about 6 STRYPER songs. I got to see them once, but didn't get to meet them. I think I lost some hearing at that concert.

Re: can you fatten up any snare?

I think that a 2 ply head might help get a fatter sound. I put an Evans EC2 reverse dot on a steel snare and it took all the ring and high end crack out of it. I think there are a lot of choices of 2...

I'm in a band

I just want to share my excitement. I haven't been in a band for many yr. A country band I was with in the early 90's called me up, said they were putting the band back together. I haven't played...

Re: Anyone just play "for the fun of it?"

I've not been in a band for quite a few years, but I play usually everyday. I just had a 1st rehearsal with a band yasterday. It's a country band that I was with 20 yr. ago. It went great. So I...

Re: tone deaf

I thought tone deaf meant, that you can't sing. Not that you cant hear the difference in tones. I've always heard the difference, but can't sing it. It's all flat.

I really like your R.C.'s. Maybe better than my Sea Blue Fade. They look sweet, I bet they sound that way too!
