Re: New Guru "Tour" series kits - details here first :)

Good call on keeping the finishes at a minimum, it fits in with what I see as the Guru philosophy much better. You're not one of those Keller "I'll accommodate anything just to get a sale because I'm...

Re: Bearing Edge Dressing

Tung oil sounds right down my alley... especially for a cheap snare to help get a real nice, dead, 'schwack'. That's a sound I don't have in my arsenal right now unless I muffle something so much...

Bearing Edge Dressing

Hey guys, it's been many months since I've posted on here, I know. I ran across this today while thinking about getting a Breakbeats kit, and thought I'd share it. Perhaps it's already been posted (I...

Re: Ludwig Centennial Zep kit information

Going off what Steve said, I bought a set in large Zep-esque sizes and I think it was one heck of a smart purchase. All maple shells, full size quality lugs, good edges and finishes... I really think...

Re: 11 Legendary & Most Used Drum Breaks (aka samples from old funk/soul records used in hip-hop)

Awesome video! Also, it's one of the first where the breaks are played correctly :).

Re: new guy needs advice on drum to engrave

Almost all of the engraving in the market is done by one guy by the name of John Aldridge. I ran into him once... super, super nice guy! Check out this -...

Re: The Sound of The Metronome is Disappearing

Can we please sticky the OP's first post in this thread, just so every time someone asks how to improve their internal rhythm, we can show that someone that the answer is truly as simple as...

Re: Best Bonham Snare Tuning Method

I'm fully convinced that everything envied about Bonham's sound is mostly due to room sound/ audio engineering, big sticks, and technique. He had a lot of tunings and cymbals, but all sounded like...

Re: Let battle commence :)

I'm excited to hear one of your top-notch recordings of HUGE sounding drums in HUGE sizes. Off to buy 4000 watt dual subwoofer... lol. Glad you're excited, and I'm happy to share it!

Re: Do you play a consistent bass drum pattern?

I've never really payed much attention to it. I just work out a groove in my head and just try to keep that feeling. Listening to recordings for practice/jam sessions/shows, I'm actually quite...

Re: Best online place to buy gear

Musician's Friend sucks from personal experience. Amazon is horribly organized. Having visited Memphis Drum Shop myself, and seeing how useless the employees were, I will never buy from them.

Re: Gadd ... playing Evans?

Looking with my eyes, it looks like paper towel under the tape, you can see a bit covering the Evans logo. It makes sense, because knowing that 4 Moongels come in a pack, and seeing what looks like...

Re: How to stop customers from pawing cymbals?

I'm on the same page, just trying to help the OP. Fingerprints are natural and don't hurt anything. When I cymbal shop, I touch, paw, spin, bend, play, and do whatever else I need. If I can't, I...

Re: How to stop customers from pawing cymbals?

Another option would be to buy a box of cotton gloves and ask customers to wear one or two when in the cymbal area. Then you just clean the dirty ones at night.

Re: Proof other musicians don't care how drums sound.

My experience with borrowing kits for other bands/gigs has always been an interesting one... lots of nice kits... but with really old, worn, dented heads, many times with bottom heads missing, lugs...

Re: Erroneously entitled: "Nobody Cares"

I care when the cheap Strat goes out of tune in 10 minutes and I have to listen to crappy tuning for a whole set. :)
Guitarists suck sometimes.

Re: Hanging a gong on the wall

Will you be playing it or is it just for show? The closest you can get away with to the wall is what I'd do.
