Re: What Are These Two Tones?

Actually, the tune-bot reads that pitch around the rim or at the center. The pitch that I get on the Frequency Generator is only mesured around the rim.

What Are These Two Tones?

Iíve been tuning practically all my drums with my Tune-Bot since I got it a couple of years ago. I couldnít help but notice that the Tune-Bot tunes your drums to any number of Hertz (Hz.) These...

Re: What will it take for me to be able to do this?

Actually, here in Sacramento, I think it's ridiculously hard to find a gig with a banda. I've only had two offers here in the last year. The first was to play with this guy who was trying to form a...

Re: What will it take for me to be able to do this?

Just for the record, i'm not talking about the work on the cowbells from that 2 second bit, just the way the guy rolled through those three drums with what appears to me as such ease, flexability,...

What will it take for me to be able to do this?

(2:20-2:22)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGtIuhQrxzU

I think I've seen every single drummer in this style of music do this with their wrists and it has always taunted me because I've always...

Re: Wrong size tension rods?

Good news everyone! I found luck when I found the original broken lugs that I took from this snare drum. Though they were bent and broken, they too were spring loaded, and their ďfemale partsĒ were...

Re: Wrong size tension rods?

Now that I look at it, even I have no clue how Iíve been able to play this snare drum (for months) with these new tension rods that didnít even fit correctly. I realized that I have reason to worry...

Re: Wrong size tension rods?

Ok, so what size would match the size of the original tension rods from the snare drum?

Re: Wrong size tension rods?

The new ones that I ordered were from DW. Here's a link to the rod's info on the DW website.

Wrong size tension rods?

I originally thought that all tension rods were the same size in diameter. So, when I bought new tension rods for a 1974 Rogers Dynasonic that I was restoring, I didnít notice that the tension rods...

Re: Do you all tune your snare reso heads tighter than the batter?

On my snare, I tune the reso side pretty tight... but the batter side waaay tighter. I play with a clear remo pinstripe on the batter side, and a hazy remo ambassador on the reso side... all on a...

Re: How do you lubricate tension rods correctly?

I actually did the q-tip thing with some wd40 and that didnt work to well. I dont think it was the q-tips. I think it was the wd40. As soon as i tried tying in a tension rod after that, it was still...

How do you lubricate tension rods correctly?

I need to lubricate my tension rods and the inside of the lugs on my snare drum. The only thing is, I donít know how to do it without making a mess. How can I do this without making a mess?

Re: Snare Drums: Triple Flanged vs. Die Cast Hoops

I think the only die cast replacement for the Dynasonic resonant side hoop, would be those bottom hoops that they used on the Tama Kingbeat and Mastercraft Imperialstar Snare Drums back in the 80s. I...

Re: Snare Drums: Triple Flanged vs. Die Cast Hoops

By the way, the snare drum I'm using is a 14x6.5 COB Rogers Dynasonic, believe it or not. I think maybe it might sound awkward to me because I'm use to playing a 14x5.5 COB Rogers Dynasonic that I...

Re: Snare Drums: Triple Flanged vs. Die Cast Hoops

So, because die cast hoops are thicker and heavier, does that mean that the sound is more "controlled?Ē And the rim shots would be darker sounding? Because the problem that I think I'm having with my...

Snare Drums: Triple Flanged vs. Die Cast Hoops

Can someone explain the differences in center shot and rim shot sound between triple flanged hoops and die cast hoops? How do the two (triple flanged and die cast hoops) differ in sounds?

Re: Tune Bot Snare Drum Tuning

Well, duh you have to muffle the opposite head. That's the first thing they tell you to do in the tune-bot manuel, and even in their videos on how to work the thing. If you were getting the same...

Re: Tune Bot Snare Drum Tuning

Well, I know that after a certain number, the tune-bot needs to have the filter turned on. Or maybe that's just how mine works.
I'll tune the bottom head up to 399.7 (or some number like that) and...

Is it bad to have little or no individuality?

I'm not talking about the way I play, because I believe that there are no two drummers/percussionists that perform the exact same. Though still, I might try to copy or mimic some of my favorite...

Re: I popped a snare side head.....

I just checked my snare-side head (Hazy Remo Ambassador) with this old drum dial that I have lying around. It read 86. I'm not sure how acurate that is because the thing that's used to mesure tension...

Do Tama's Mighty Hoops Still Have Their Logo?

I think the mighty hoops in the 90s still had the logos on the hoops that said "Mighty Hoop" on it. Does anyone know if Tama's Mighty Hoops still have that logo on them?
I'm thinking about buying a...

Re: Do You Like Metal Snares?

I actually prefer metal snare drums, and same here; I like the 14x6.5 size best. A 14x6.5 Tama Metalworks was practically my first snare drum. After that, I wanted to upgrade to a 14x6.5 Pearl...
