Re: THE CLASSIFIEDS - For Sale / Wanted

Gretsch Renown kit in Ruby Sparkle Fade lacquer.
Would prefer 12, 14ft, 16ft, 20BD config, but will consider whatever you have for sale in that finish.

Re: Calling John Ploughman, Rogers questions

The transition to the Big R drums was 1975-76, not '72.

Re: Rogers Big R, why the hate??

You mean how can you identify the imports?

#1- the badges will not have USA on them.
#2 - the floor tom leg mounts and bass drum spurs are not Rogers-style, but the same as every other 80's-now...

Re: Rogers Big R, why the hate??

Caution - those are post-bankruptcy imports and not "real" Rogers.

Re: Rogers Dynasonic Custom Built Snare 10 Lugs

You didn't say it was a WOODEN Dyna.

$1450 is more like it, maybe more if you clean it up before selling.

Re: New Drums Need Info/Help! Vintage Rogers Kit

That's a 1974 Londoner V kit, Koa wrap.
As you've discovered, the tom mounts have been replaced. Looks like new holes were drilled to do that which is a shame.
70's Dynas will be COB, wood shells...

Re: Rogers Big R, why the hate??

The rack tom is an older Swivo-matic / script badge drum, so it didn't come with the other 2. It likely has a paper tag inside with 9/72 on it. It's missing the collet that clamps it onto a hex rod....

Re: The Muscle Shoals Sound

X2! While I was watching, I thought about how many of his grooves I went to school on over the years. What a body of work he has.

Yeah. "Good Girls Don't" makes My Sharona sound tame in comparison.

Re: Completed my Big R Rogers kit!

Bo -
It's not "finished" until you get rid of that Ludwig strainer! :-)

There are plenty of Rogers strainers out there. Hopefully the previous owner didn't drill new holes for it.

Re: When did Rogers do this?

Short answer = never.
Yamaha did it after Rogers went belly up and they ended up with the name.
If it's a "big R" drum and doesn't say U.S.A. on the badge, keep looking.

Re: Upgrading Swivomatic Spurs Help

If you still have the rubber tips, take them off.

Re: Metal vs Fabric pop filters?

You can make your own windscreens using an embroidery hoop from any craft store for about a $1. Stretch some stocking material, screen, etc over the inside hoop and you're good to go.
