Re: Rudiment exercise book

I really like John Wooton's book "The Drummer's Rudimental Reference Book". Lots of great exercises for mastering all 40 rudiments.

Re: An attempt at a policy change here

I think the moderators should have shown some guts and told Shemp to buzz off.

I was away for the weekend without my computer. I really enjoyed reading all of these posts. I recently joined 2 gigging bands at the same time. Had over 60 songs to learn in a short period of...

Things that go through my head while I'm playing a gig:

"How does this song start again? Oh good it's a guitar intro. Ok we're in. Yeah this is good. This is really good. Oh, that sucked. Why did I do that? Is this where the chorus comes in? Should I try...

Re: Are Ludwig Supraphonics really that good a snare

For me it's more a matter of the fact that there are a whole lot of crappy snares out there and the Supra is a very safe bet. Buy one, tune it up and bang, you've got a classic, reliable snare sound.

Re: My Skype call with Steve Gadd

Thanks for sharing that. Steve has been a huge influence on me as well. And I agree about the Pledge thing. I pledged for Weckl's new project.

Re: Bought an e-kit (Yamaha DD65) - Lessons off YouTube, DVDs or teacher?

Hi Andrew,

Welcome to the world of drumming. Another suggestion I'd make is to find a teacher that gives Skype lessons. You can choose any teacher throughout the world to give you lessons on...

Re: Any Steve Gadd fans might enjoy this article in our local newspaper

Thanks for posting that article. A friend of mine is pretty close with him. I told my friend to tell Gadd he should write an autobiography. I'll bet 90% of all drummers would buy it.

Re: Ebay score - Marching Snare Content

I agree with that Kirby. I understand what they're trying to do these days with the current snares but I definitely prefer the sound of a "real snare".

This one's got a great tuning range. I...

Re: Ebay score - Marching Snare Content

Thanks Simms: I actually figured that out. Prob should have known. I also learned that it's maple/poplar/mahogany 3 plies with maple re-rings. Sounds awesome.

Ebay score - Marching Snare Content

Hi Guys,

I just scored this 60's Slingerland Super Tension marching snare off ebay for less than $100. It's a 12 x 15. That's probably what these go for normally but I'm very happy with it and...

Re: New Kit GMS

Thanks Rick,

I didn't know much about GMS previously. I thought they were some cheap drum outfit. My local drum shop was selling this kit on consignment. I sat down and played them and just...
