Re: Every drummer should be on here with a story

Re: Ideal length for a drum solo?
Viperpercussionist, I'd say that's the ideal kind of drum solo for that kind of setting. Not too long, not boring, there was a build and a climax, and you didnt go overboard with anything. For the...

Re: What First Inspired You
I was 12 and Nirvana was the first band I ever air drummed to, which is where my interest in drumming began. Didn't start drumming till I was 18 and I play nothing like that now (and don't really...

lol, haven't been on this forum in years, and this will seem random as hell, but I would like to retract the stupid comments I made years ago when I used to post on this forum, I've grown to...

Re: Post your Greatest Weakness
My greatest weakness in drumming is getting caught up in thinking that I suck, that I'm a horrible drummer. I feel my other weaknesses are nothing a little practice and more lessons won't fix.

Re: When do you consider yourself a drummer??
All you need to do is engage in the act of drumming with a certain consistency- just barely enough to technically be considered a "drummer" but not seldomly enough to just be someone who has...

Re: Vinnie Colauita
Regardless of your criticism of Vinnie's playing, you made yourself look like an ass by criticizing the people cheering for Vinnie in the video clip, assuming they must have no musical knowledge...

Re: Practicing on pillows.
Ah, this discussion again. If I remember correctly, the people against pillow practicing decided they were right and considered the last discussion overwith. I still disagree with them.

Re: Tony Royster Jr.
Sounding like a young Dennis Chambers includes sounding like a young Billy Cobham, Tony Williams, Buddy Rich, and tons of others (and THEIR influences).

Re: Tony Williams
Y'know, somehow I've never really ended up practicing flams, and I was thinking yesterday about whether or not to start incorporating them, and hearing Tony use them finally convinced me I should.

Re: The Grand Master Buddy Rich
I don't like Thomas Lang solos, but saying Buddy can do everything this guy could do is going a little too far. I'm sure if Buddy would have studied that kind of drumming he would have been amazing...

Re: Billy Cobham
I'm all about the non-elevator-music fusion. Billy is the only drummer who's drumming I can completely percieve as a person just speaking to me, which is why he's my favorite drummer from a musical...

Re: Billy Cobham
Not to impose my own opinions of music on anyone, but if you can badmouth Billy Cobham, you have no music in your soul whatsoever.

Re: Jon theodor
One of the best young drummers of today. Mars Volta is also one of the best bands. I saw them in August and they gave hands down the best musical performance I've ever seen in my life.
