Re: Musically, what are you involved with at the present?

I have 3 things going on.

#1 is band mates from WAY back A couple of guys I've known since high school. We put in a LOT of rehearsal hours, a couple nights a week at my house. We play 60's thru...

Seriously dude?

If I cared enough, I'd take the time to go thru your posts and come up with an example of how your words were wrong. It would be totally unrelated and off topic but, since you...

Re: NFL Asks Musicians for Money to Play Super Bowl Read more: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/ne

The question seems to be about compensation. I feel that the air time during the SB is huge compensation. Other companies are paying millions per minute for it. If it were my decision, I'd sell the...

When did it become immoral to sell something of value?

Acts will pay to play at the super bowl. Vendors will pay to hawk their goods. Big companies will pay to put their name the stadium. It's...

Here's a question for you Bob.

In your business, generally speaking, if you had something you could sell, would you pay somebody to take it?

I don't pay someone to haul away my scrap copper....

Re: NFL Asks Musicians for Money to Play Super Bowl Read more: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/ne

It's hardly a precedent. It's big business 101 and has been going on forever. It's basically product placement. It's done from the grocery stores to every big event in the nation.

Potato,...

Re: NFL Asks Musicians for Money to Play Super Bowl Read more: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/ne

The people that find this ridiculous have no concept of business.

The super bowl is a business and the act is a business.

The super bowl is a bigger draw than ANY performer out there so, who...

Re: Does anyone actually like big finales?

I HATE playing them.

I think because of the (seemingly?) lack of structure..

Plus my soloing sucks.

Well, there is an hour I'll never get back.

Yep. I just spent a full hour on the intro to Blondie's Call Me.

Normally I just play something close but for some reason, I felt the need to play it as written. I'd heard it a thousand times...

Re: Insulting a member on the bandstand

1) he is committed.... roll with it.

2) don't fight, see #1 ^

3) Key words, the part. The responsibility is shared throughout the rhythm section.

It's a team sport. Sometimes you lead,...

Re: Strange gigs.....

The farm gig seems awesome but the bank gig was even more strange than my auto dealership. The guy working in the cubicle is priceless!!

Re: Insulting a member on the bandstand

Time and place :)

Work out tempo issues in rehearsal. On stage, don't fight it, just roll with it.

Re: Pride and Joy - Stevie Ray Vaughn

If you can't tell, they can't tell.

This song is all guitar so just keep tempo and don't over play/ over think .......and stop at the right times :)

It doesn't mater what your right hand is...

Re: Teeth Drumming

It's probably common. I've been doing it forever.

Triplet rolls are easy :) Paradiddles are easy, but not very fast.

Heh heh. Spell check on this site doesn't recognize paradiddle and puts the...

Re: Strange gigs.....

Also, I don't think I could have played this room with acoustic drums. The whole room was about 8X larger than the picture with hard surfaces EVERYWHERE. It was pretty much the worst case scenario...

Re: Strange gigs.....

I came away with mixed emotions after this one.

Good. After our half a song sound check, we were offered another gig (in Oct)

Bad. Only (the same) two people danced to three different songs.

Strange gigs.....

I will soon be driving across town to play a 5 PM gig at........a car dealership?

What the hell?

I've played my share of dive bars and empty venues but there was always alcohol being consumed...

Re: Rhythm section practice – a good way to improve the band’s time

Nope. It's just that simple.

Everybody hears a click and plays along with it. It is remarkable simple.

After a while you will be able to ditch it for the most part. How long it takes depends...

Re: Biggest problem with a sub, or new band member?

Re: Always sounding bad when practicing

This ^^^

If you are playing in tempo, at the proper volumes and not rushing your fills, just laugh at your bro's comments. If not, keep working or quit.

Re: Can a band recording be quantized?

If it is not overly complicated music, simply record a simple dummy drum track with a click, then have the other players add their parts. They will be using your basic drum track as a click.

As...
