Re: RIP Uriel Jones

Terrible loss to music. Under-appreciated to say the least.

Does anyone know a good place to look for a comprehensive guide to who played Drums on which Motown track? I was sure Benny Benjamin...

Re: Best blues drummers

Sorry man, must've completely missed your post when I was scrolling down.

Re: How to play rock n roll by led zeppelin? (i am confused)

That guy's not playing it right.

To put it very basically, the hi hat & snare drum are both going all the time (the whole way through the song) with the left hand (snare) accenting the backbeats....

Re: Ending fills with the snare on beat one

Have a listen to Space Truckin' by Deep Purple, Ian Paice finishes nearly very fill (& there's a few) like this.

Re: How to play rock n roll by led zeppelin? (i am confused)

They're right, it's effectively a Rock 'Clave', he plays flat flams the whole way through the song, obviously accenting the Backbeat. Play it without all this left hand stuff & I find it sounds very...

Re: Bill Brufrod annouces retirement

Some real cynics on here!

That's bad news as far as I'm concerned, if he does retire, it's a loss for the music world, if he comes back, so what - we can go & see him again!

Re: 28 Years Gone-We Still Miss You Bonzo

All I can say is I'd rather be in a band with John Bonham than with you, you must be a real hoot on a band night out - keeping an eye on what everyone is drinking & putting up their nose.

I have...

Re: 28 Years Gone-We Still Miss You Bonzo

Sorry, but did John Bonham kill himself? You're posts are so misplaced it's untrue.

The Spinal Tap joke is funny because the guy choked 'on someone else's vomit', for you to think it is funny...

Re: 28 Years Gone-We Still Miss You Bonzo

I really don't get your post at all, plenty of musicians have indulged in drink & drugs & live to tell the tale. As for John Bonham's death, it was a terrible accident & I've never seen anyone but...

Re: Drum Battle - Newport 1964 - Does a Recording Exist?

I've read Mel Torme's Biography of Buddy & I'm sure in there he states that no recording was ever made, could be wrong.

He also says in the book that it was the greatest drum solo Buddy ever...

Re: Alan Wren

It was Reni who got me playing drums, his playing on the Second Coming is hugely underrated.

Heard a few stories about him being quite a strange character though!?
