Re: My Old Pearl Export Kit (early 80s according to the badge type)

Looks really cool! Like a Levon Helm kit. My first kit was a free Pearl Export, and I still use it to pracitce everyday! I do have 2 other kits I use on gigs depending on the vibe (rock, jazz, etc)...

Re: $50 yard sale score

I'm sure not easy to hear...

Re: $50 yard sale score

Re: James Gadson

I think "Ain't No Sunshine" studio version featured Al Jackson, Jr and the Stax rhythm section.

That being said - JAMES GADSON, JR!!!!!

One of my absolute favs. "Kissing My Love" is arguably...

Re: Rudiments in daily practice or something else?

A few years ago I broke rudiments into "family" groups, and began working through each rudiment in the family them the following way:

A - one drum/cymbal
B - split hands on different...

Re: inner drumming

Unlike what was assumed at the beginning of the thread, "Inner Drumming" the book isn't about drumming in your head, instead it's about building the awareness of the internal movement from limb to...

Re: Gripping Stick with Back of the Hand - Practice Tools

Awesome! Glad to watch this. My RH especially is not very good, and I always go back and forth about what "feels most comfortable". Is the stroke coming from the middle, ring, and pinkie or just the...

Re: Dave Lombardo

Gigantic Lombardo fan. I also was a big thrash fan, but I got into Slayer later than most. I can't really say he influenced my playing per se, but his energy and aggression always inspire me.
