Re: Help me find a solution...

Double-sided carpet tape between the bottom hat and the top of the felt, and between the felt and the bottom hat seat. Before applying tape, split the felt (or stack two) and hand-sew them around...

Re: Band lighting - small venues

Okay, let me get this straight... I've got 4 foot (1.2 m), 6500K "daylight" fluorescent shop lights in my basement. Should I go with something warmer - say around 3000K? For back-lighting, I could...

Re: The one piece of gear you'll take to the grave

Thank you. Thank you very much.

Re: How many travelling pro drummers have kids?

Thanks for your service, Sir!

Sounds like we've got a lot in common, aside from the color of our uniforms. (US Army, Retired). There was a 54 month period in the mid 80's where I was only home...

Re: Do you wear rings when drumming?

You nailed it, Bert! A little homework and I found out that the forerunner to the "Chuck Taylor All Star" shoe has been around since 1917. They've been associated with Chuck Taylor since around...

Re: Little game....name that tune

Gads, MZ!! Even my ears know better, but it always brings a chuckle. Pink Floyd.

Re: Do you wear rings when drumming?

Chuck Taylor's - look like knock-off Red Ball Jets (though haven't had a pair of those since the 1960's). My drumming feet like leather moccasins with no liner - don't need anything grippy. I wear...

Re: Miking Drum Kit

Greetings All! I must confess that I don't know much about sound propagation nor recording, but I've frequented the Sengpiel Audio website for many years spelunking RF/audio power conversions.

Re: Little game....name that tune

Yeah, I know the drill. I get up at 3:15 AM Eastern to be to work at 5:30, but I get home around 4:00 pm. 1 hr commute one way, but it's easy farm country driving, if you don't mind dodging deer. ...

Re: Kenny Buttrey, Blonde on Blonde and more

He was in Jimmy Buffett's Coral Reefer Band for the 1978 live album, You Had to Be There. Didn't know he'd passed. Nuts.

Re: Little game....name that tune

"There's the bathroom on the right."

Funny story. Was visiting a gasthaus in West Germany several years ago (OK, maybe more than "several"). I was a few alts into the evening and had to "go," so...

s'cuse me, while I kiss this guy.

Sorry.

I damaged my hearing as a teenager, so I've got a long list of mis-heard lyrics. I won't embarrass myself...

Re: Here's an observation nobody here wants to hear ;)

Thank you, thank you, thank you. Best news I've heard all day, Bo.

I bought my Y-SC's 10 years ago. If I keep them for 30 more years, and they only work 1/175th as good as Charlie's Gretsch set,...

Okay, Earl.

HA! I change my mind more than my socks. At my age, sometimes I change my mind without even knowing it!

Re: Beginner - easy songs are freaking hard!

As already mentioned, the drum parts for simple songs aren't always "simple." I had a VERY tough time getting past CCR's "Looking Out my Back Door." But when it clicked, syncopated beats never...

Re: My UK trip part 1

Dear me, Miss Madge! It's nice that you'd snap a photo of those three nice, old, grey-haired gentlemen. Nowadays, most folks don't include the "fauna" in their travel photos. These gentlemen add a...

Re: Should I be annoyed?

Lots of good stuff here. I didn't see MZ calling names or passing judgment - he just flipped a coin to see if the other side was relevant. IMHO, probably not in this case, but why not take a look. ...

Re: Off days.

After 58 years on God's green earth, I've learned to not purposefully pi$$ myself off. Life's too short. If the drumset and I are at odds, I walk away.

Re: what to expect from 1st jam

You'll be fine, Paul. You know what to do. Besides, most folks don't know the drum parts and even the drummers won't crucify you if you miss a signature part. Keep good time, don't step on solos...

Re: So you're going to a desert island...

I'm lucky to have what some DW folks call "brain radio." I've always got music in my head - when I fall asleep and when I wake up. Probably plays all night too, but I'm sleeping, so... ...
