Practice leading every exercices/grooves/patterns/whatever you want with your left hand. And focus on the motion and the sound, be sure you're very relax. I guarantee you some great results in a few...

My Remo clear Emperor sound awesome no matter if I tune it low or high.
And I don't have a high-quality kit (Pearl VX) and I'm definitely not a master at tuning.

I use Zoom Q3 to record my vids. It's cheap (95 euros) and it works great even if the video quality is not that amazing (it's not in HD).

"The new Breed" by Gary Chester will improve your independence drastically (and solve your "my HH follow my bass drum" problem). It's a classic master piece which every drummer should study.
