Re: Gong-tastic!

Not to hijack this thread, just wondering if anyone may be in the market for a 48" Zildjian imported gong. It's welded from 5 pieces of metal. When I bought it way back in 1975 from E.U. Wurlitzer...

Re: Andy inspired me to demo some of my snare drums.

Snare and the rest of the kit for that matter sounded great to me. The playing was also great, smooth, fluid and dynamic. Nice chops.

Re: THE CLASSIFIEDS - For Sale / Wanted

Found this on ebay, seems like a pretty good deal to me. To bad I don't need another kit.

Re: Peter Erskine is on the move... again

Who knows what actually goes on in the players mind. Other than he is getting paid by the company to push their product. He may be thinking to himself, "Jeez I really like these Zildjians too" ...

Re: Kinda' ok with slowing down

It's a pretty big commitment on your life to do this drumming thing. It might be nice to step away (not completely) and focus on family or other interests a bit more. Like the others are saying,...

Re: Just starting at 53 and will need all the help I can get!

Welcome and have fun with drumming. Pleny of great advice on this site believe me. By the way I'm 61 and still love to do this.

Re: Are you familiar with Jammin Sam's drum wraps?

I had a guy rehab an old Slingerland kit using Jammin Sam sparkle wrap. Good stuff, holding up well.

Before and after pictures. Kind of wish I did broken glass instead, a bit more pricy. Oh...

Re: best deal on DW Performance Series?

I got lucky and found one on ebay in the right finish.

Don't get me wrong the DW kit sounded great and it's built very well too. I am just a fan of mounting my toms on the bass drum. I work a...

Re: best deal on DW Performance Series?

Have you considered used? I picked up a 3 piece for $800 and added a 10" tom for $110.00, so for under a grand I got 4 pieces. Great condition.

I did however sell them after two months, went...

Re: Polishing drums

This is what I use, the stuff is great, use it on finish and hardware. No need to use two different cleaners. Smells good too.

Re: I Need to Get Re-Motivted

I feel you pain too. I am on DW everyday just nosing around. I also checkout ebay and CL for gear related stuff. I have many DVD's and books on learning related material that I watch or read from...

Re: Yamaha Drums

Well that experiment lasted two months. Although I liked the DW Performance kit I just missed my Yamaha Oak Customs. I think partly because I just like the Yamaha hardware, mounting etc. So I sold...

Re: "You're a drummer? Oh can you play..."

Just played it Saturday night. Wipeout gets requested all the time in my band, of course we are and oldies act so that is one reason.

It's a workout at my age :-) I like to mix it it up and keep...

Re: Yamaha drum kit, need advice.

Those are very well made drums, I had a set of those for about 5 years. Sold them for $500.00. Birch and mahogany shells. Sounded great. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Re: Yamaha Live Custom Oak - opinions?

Great sounding and well built drums for sure. I had the gold badge Oak Custom kit and sold them to try out DW, two months later I sold the DW and picked up the Live Oak. Using the stock clear emps...

Re: Brand Loyalty

With me it's not so much loyalty but rather what I'm used to. I have been playing Yamaha for years and I like their hardware. I would rather have my toms on the bass drum and with Yamaha mounts it...

Re: Q Drums Vs. DW

Makes a lot of sense Larry. I picked up a set of Magstar (Keller maple shells) for $500.00 and they sound great. I can leave them in the car and not worry too much about anything happening to them....
