Re: 10 lug wood snare ID?

Not a real good photo, the vent grommet looks cheap, maybe a Sonic shell or some made in Taiwan unit. I take it that it is not yours yet. If you get it, yank the heads and take a good shot of the...

Re: Drumming Nightmares

I have had the same drummer dream for the last 25 years or so. I am at a huge gig, couple thousand people, and in real life I have done boatloads like this. I count the first song and just as I reach...

Re: Benny Greb DVD - experience?

I borrowed the DVD, and I was really impressed by Benny's ability to "play music" as opposed to just blasting out chops. So last week I bought the book in the hopes I might be able to milk at least a...

Re: Humber College (Canda)

Humber is one of the best music schools in Canada. Mohawk college in Hamilton is also well respected. I believe Paul DeLong is still teaching the drum portion at Humber. He is a monster player.

Re: Help - stave snare drum tuning

For $200, you got a trick throw, some weathered looking tube lugs and a rough die cast hoop. Honestly, the parts would cost you that much, so no great loss. The shell too me looks like it might be...

Re: Drumming: the spiritual side

As in everything we do in life, including drumming, your mental frame of mind can either hold you back or it can inspire greatness. Having the ability to free your mind of things other than the task...

Re: Fast single stroke rolls with no fingers?

saw Flo Mournier in a clinic. He gets pretty fast with wrist only. He told me he developed it with a heavy regimen of weight training, mostly wrist curls.

Re: Mahogany - quality question

North Anerican mahogany basically no longer exists. I bought a bed built in 1910-20 made from genuine mahogany. From what I understand, this species is gone. Phillipine iwood grows fast like a weed...

Re: World's First Playable 100% Pure Cyrstal Snare Drum

And if you gigged with an opera singer, you may need a heavy duty crotch cup for when the high note is sung and the crystal wine classes start shattering.

Re: World's First Playable 100% Pure Cyrstal Snare Drum

Sure looks cool, that frame is incredible looking. As far as a crystal shell, I am sceptical. You may know that I do some drum building myself. I recently put my heart and soul into a Bloodwood...

Re: How would you go about selling my Ludwig 1920's Black Beauty Snare Drum?

This post reminds me of the Nigerian President who wants me to deposit his 25 million dollar inheritance into my bank account.

Re: Snare wire tension

Just picture, the amount of loose buzzing is always more pronounced to you than it will be to the audience. I like mine tightened just a touch past loose, where the snares just become defined I guess...

Re: Premier Resonator... Shall I?

The thread was re-opened by the "world class drummer" with 1 post under his belt. Where that came from, who knows, guy was probably doing a general Premier drum search.

Re: MY NEW DRUM RISER

So I am seeing a three piece band. Keyboard guy plays left hand bass or pedals? Does the Flamenco dancer follow you or do you have to catch him here and there? I sense doing shows with a percussive...

Re: Why will nobody buy my rack tom? Take a look.

Do all the Catalina's have the staggered lug pattern? That alone would kill it for me. Maybe you changed it, but the opening bid of $29.99 is not .99 cents.

Re: Biggest stick you have ever played set with?

In the early '80's I worked for Joe Calato at Regal Tip. I did for a while use Quantum 10's which were quite larger in diameter, maybe double of a 2B and very long, I think about 18 inches and the...

Re: About these nylon washers
