Re: Anyone tried Drum Books on Kindle

If your eyes are good enough and you work in good light, I think it would work. I have enough trouble seeing a full size paper copy. :-)

Re: A stick trick

I tried this on my pad just for fun. The butt end of the stick recoiled and hit the bottom of the pad and fell to the floor! It was late and didn't want to try the drums which, I'm sure will rebound...

Re: Tommy Igoe's Great Hands For a Lifetime DVD

I think it's a great DVD also. Make sure you also go through all of the exercises in the e-book too. They are not all on the DVD.

ps; It's harder than it looks. :-)

Holding stick towards the end using left hand traditional grip.

I've been watching a lot of drummer's techniques and have a question. I noticed drummers who use the traditional grip sometimes hold the left hand's stick very close to the end, away from the pivot...

Re: Paradiddles

I wonder if the original poster was asking if the RR and LL at faster tempos are bounce strokes or not?

Timing analysis software?

Hi everyone,

Is there a (free?) software program that can check the accuracy of your drum strokes? I know I've seen this function built into one of the Roland "smart" pads.

thanks!

Re: Nate Smith's left hand

I think Nate is a very good drummer. I listen to a lot of his music where he plays with Dave Holland. Listen to the "Critical Mass" and "Pass it on" cds.

Re: Page of paradiddles

Thanks for posting this, I'll give them a try. I've been playing around with moving the accents on my paradiddles while practicing. It's funny how different they sound at a faster tempo when you do...

There's a reason why they are called "rudiments" :-)

A fundamental element, principle, or skill, as of a field of learning.

I really like Nate Smith's style. I'm listening to his work with the Dave Holland Sextet/Quartet. Fast, powerful and perfect timing.

Any other fans out there?

Re: Tied triplets counting in Stick Control

Thanks everyone, and yes, sorry for the terminology mistake using the word "tie" incorrectly.

The video "Numberless" pointed to is helpful. My main question was how a eight note triplet is...

Tied triplets counting in Stick Control

Hi,

Going through Stick Control and brushing up on my reading, on page 8, #1, how do you count the two tied triplets compared to the first 4 8th notes? This looks simple, but is throwing me for...

Re: Left stick bouncing left-right

Hey, no problem! The main issue is, when I loosen my grip to allow for bouncing, that's when the fun begins. If you were to look at my strokes from the air, you would see the occasional bounce...
