The rod does move. The cymbals seem to lift a tiny bit, but then they close completly.

If you're playing on a right handed kit, left hand lead is what open handed is. I know this because I play open handed on a right handed kit.

The pedal definatly isnt falling. I dont believe the spring in the hi hat pedal is falling.
