Re: Recording Gear: What to Buy?

So, I contacted one of the experts at Guitar Center earlier today, and he got back to me with a list that he thinks would work perfectly for me, and I have to admit, it seems pretty spot on! Make...

Re: Recording Gear: What to Buy?

Here's a couple of different mic setups that I was putting together in my head.

Setup 1
Shure DMK57-52 Kit (http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audio/shure-dmk57-52-drum-mic-kit)
Audix Fusion F15...

Re: Recording Gear: What to Buy?

I've read through my fair share of those articles, and the majority of them have all suggested a standard setup; 2 overhead mics in the X/Y position, and then 1 mic per drum. However, a lot of...

Re: Recording Gear: What to Buy?

Somebody on another drum forum suggested that I consider using less microphones, but buying better quality ones than the CAD Pro models. To be honest, I don't know which is better; a full set of...

Re: Recording Gear: What to Buy?

How does one check if their computer has this feature?

EDIT: It does. I Google searched it and confirmed my computer has a FireWire port.

Re: Recording Gear: What to Buy?

The problem is figuring out which interface to buy, lol.

The PreSonus FireStudio Firewire Interface that someone suggested to me on another forum looks nice, but it's $400!

Re: Recording Gear: What to Buy?

Lol, I see.

This is all very confusing to me.

Re: Recording Gear: What to Buy?

Ah, I see.

Well, I looked up the Zoom R16, and it's the same price as a PreSonus FireStudio Firewire Interface, which is reviewed as being an incredibly good product, and comes with free editing...

Re: Recording Gear: What to Buy?

Nice review!

However, it's left me confused. Does the Zoom R16 have to be used WITH a mixer, or is it essentially a Firewire Interface?

Re: Recording Gear: What to Buy?

What is the Zoom R16? Is it just a normal interface? Because I made an edit to my original post, in which I added a PreSonus Firewire Interface that someone suggested I get instead of a USB or...

Re: Recording Gear: What to Buy?

I actually already have a Zoom Q2HD, but I don't really care for how my kit sounds in the recordings... I've recorded a couple of videos that I never uploaded where I played along to a song (through...

Recording Gear: What to Buy?

Hey, everybody!

Ever since I started watching music videos, drum covers and remixes on YouTube, I've wanted to make some of my own. I may not be nearly as good of a drummer as I'd like to be at...

Re: Digital Metronome, or Android App?

You're probably right. I tend to read too far into things, getting myself confused and frustrated when it's not at all necessary, lol.

Re: Digital Metronome, or Android App?

Oh, okay. I didn't know that most metronomes didn't have that subdivision (it's been a while).

Would it be a problem seeing as I don't believe I can set a different sound to play at different...

Re: Digital Metronome, or Android App?

No, it doesn't have a flash, but with the way that I plan to use it, whether I buy a digital metronome or use the application on my phone, it shouldn't be a problem not being able to hear it, because...

Digital Metronome, or Android App?

Hey, everybody!

Like the title says, I'm debating whether or not to buy a digital metronome, or use an app that I got for free from the Google Play (Android) market. The app is nice, but I don't...

Re: Balancing Volume and Playability for Practicing

I might even start with just the snare pad and the bass pad, and buy mutes if a decide that I need them at a later date, because I don't know how much I would end up using them.

Like someone on...

Re: Balancing Volume and Playability for Practicing

I'm thinking I might combine the Vic Firth Snare Pad, the Gibraltar Bass Pad, and a couple of Evans mutes for my toms, hi-hat and 18" crash.

Re: Balancing Volume and Playability for Practicing

Monsters or rods? What does that mean?

I currently use On Stage 5A Nylon.

While I do get plenty of time to play at full volume, that's just when I'm playing for fun, or recording a cover. ...

Re: Balancing Volume and Playability for Practicing

Again, no.

There are plenty of times where I'm able to, and want to play at full volume. If I were to use pillow stuffing, or any other similar type of muting, I would have to remove my heads...

Re: Balancing Volume and Playability for Practicing

Uh, no.

I don't have the space or the money to build a "room inside a room," and it's not likely that my Mom is going to want to wear ear plugs in the house so I can play my kit. Not to mention,...

Balancing Volume and Playability for Practicing

Hey, everybody!

I'm looking to start knuckling down and practicing the way that I know I need to be in order to improve to the level that I want to be at, but I need to keep noise in mind. It's...

Re: Place to hire a drummer online?

I would suggest starting a thread here, on other drum forums, and perhaps make an advertisement on Craigslist. You can also browse your local Craigslist listings to see if any drummers in your area...

Re: Searching for Techniques and Lessons

Unless I misunderstood, don't both people have to have a webcam in order to be able to see or send video over Skype? If that's the case, then it wouldn't work, because I don't have a webcam. I also...
