Re: GRETSCH BROOKLYN mediocre bad quality?

Looks like something fell on them. GRETSCH will be embarrassed and take care of you.

Re: What people will pay

I think in these instances it is worth it. I've gotten new drums, then bought add on's (after they were special order only) bf, paid big money, but hey, its done and 'right' so to speak.

PDP FT...

Re: Back pain while drumming

You need your stool to be level, the drums being un level are not that important, they can easily be leveled.

Work on leveling your stool first, you can do this with shims, or by removing a...

Re: Yamaha Drums

I don't think they could keep up, they'd sell like hot cakes, even with pot metal lugs.

Re: Which college will be the best choice for drummer doing rock muisc in LA?

Sort of, I believe both schools offer 'beginner' programs tho, OP could start there... and who knows, he may end up being an instructor.

Sounds like you're not in LA jimmy0730(?). Both...

Re: Buddy Rich trap case

I believe it (and the story) is real, but Rick Harrison over at Gold and Silver Pawn in Vegas would ask for more documentation, anyone could get an old trap case and spray paint Buddy Rich and...

Re: Yamaha Drums

Rental kit is the perfect example, if you bring your own pedal, what are the chances 'that' BD is at the angle which matches your pedal? 'Your' pedal is set up the way you want it, you don't mess...

Re: A great Craiglist steal?

A broad generalization.

I would expect broken cymbals, not one of the drummers sets of pies off the Costa Concordia or something.

Re: Need a huge kick, is 60 inches enough?

Interesting, in the OP's pic that's not the 60" BTW, or at least not per their web sites specs (http://www.lefima.de/en/historic/drums/isen-donar-trumen), which list the 60" as having a whopping 46...

Re: New snare build with 5 ply Keller Magnum shell

And that's the thing, glue does dry harder/stronger and a result creates a differential. How that acts with whatever wood being used is the crap shoot, just hope it comes out pleasing.

Single...

Re: Yamaha Drums

Not suck, just not as workable. In drum set up time, a second is equal to 30 sec in real time, finding/fumbling with a drum key to do BD spur adjustments is so last century when you're a busy...

Re: New snare build with 5 ply Keller Magnum shell

As long as the builder does everything else right, constructs the drum so that each shell can achieve its max sonic potential, variation is a good thing IMO, leave the same same sound thing to the...

Re: Yamaha Drums

Eghhhh. Of all the BD spurs I've put my hands on, YAMAHA's hi end ones are some of the worst. Not to mention they're prone to breakage under heavy use.

On my STAGE CUSTOMS I can open both spurs...

Re: Contrats To Bermuda!

This release from Weird Al and co debuting at #1 was predicted by NOSTRADAMUS, so not that great a surprise to me... plus I made a couple of calls for them.

Right arm Bermuda! You da MAN!!!

Re: The old Pearl Exports??

I would question the mount arms for the bass drum, what the ISO's go onto, they're not shown, or mentioned.

Re: Yamaha Drums

Depends on your thinking, lighter is better, or heavier hardware is better?
Heavy weight drums don't specifically equate to quality... ask GURU.

The reason there's less material in the SC lug is...

Re: 2014 STAGE CUSTOM review ☞

Hardware (metal bits) aren't as big a concern for YAMAHA, they make all their own, they don't outsource. The big cost is (was) in labor, hence industries move to Mexico, China etc.

Who cares what...

Re: Yamaha Drums

For the record, 'all' YAMAHA lugs are made of pot metal, even the the gold plated (discontinued) MAPLE CUSTOM lugs.

STAGE CUSTOM (2014) uses the same lug size on BD's and toms. Below are pics of...

Re: Yamaha Drums

Same depth as LIVE CUSTOM'S (14X13, or 16x15)

STAGE CUSTOM 14 FT does have 6 lugs, I like the look actually. The sound is wonderful and the drum is lighter b/c of it.
