Re: Drummer's Cars

Just bought a honda fit. It's a tiny car, but it fits my five big five-piece perfectly.

Ludwig 1970 ?

I'm not sure what year it's from. The serial numbers are 755xxx.

Re: Ludwig Bassdrum Front Head Logo

That looks cool. I'll probably go with that option.

Re: Ludwig Bassdrum Front Head Logo

Reviving a 3 year-old thread.

I'm looking for the same head. Anyone have any leads?

Re: Tension/Aching Problems

I get the exact same pain/tension in my arm when I play.
I've been playing for 25 years using the German grip, and, admittedly, have never worked on my technique.
If I warm up with some mid-tempo...

Re: Ludwig Epic Pro Beat or OC Avalon?

From a practical perspective, I can't imagine having to haul around 22x20 bass drum.

Re: Need advice on used Ludwigs

$500 is a good deal if the shells are in decent condition.

Re: Any punk drummers that anyone likes?

I'm glad Bill Stevenson is recognized. I can't think of a better one. George Hurley is great; I don't consider him a punk drummer though.
Is Blink 182 a punk band? Maybe I'm old, but their music...

Re: Everyone tells me NOT to buy a kit with a 24" bass drum! (24"BD owners, please comment!)

My only complaint about my 24 kick is that it makes my rack toms sit a little higher than I'd like (being 5'6 doesn't help either). If I bought another kit, I'd go for a 14x22.

Re: People Who Count Off The Song At A Different Tempo To The Song's Actual Tempo

They know those songs so well, that the count just tells them when to start the song. In that case, it makes sense: the slow count is just giving them plenty of time to get ready.

Re: Remote hi-hat

Good points all.
If I moved my hi-hat from the traditional spot, I'd lose half my fills.

Re: Beginning Drummer Needs Advice!!!!!

If you've got a space where you can play loud, get a real kit. In fact, if you don't have a place where you can play loud, I wouldn't bother. E-kits are just treadmills for drummers IMO.

Re: Four Piece or Five Piece?????

Sounds like we play the same places. :)
My setup/breakdown takes long enough as it is, so I try to stay as basic as possible, without compromising my style.

Re: Four Piece or Five Piece?????

What's the appeal of two floor toms?
I can't imagine using the second one too often.

Re: Has practicing on pillows helped with your speed or control

Pillows. That's a great idea.
For years, I would practice with my most beat up snare head, then replace it with a new one for a show or a recording session.
Practicing with an electronic kit, has...

Re: Ludwig Classic Maple Vs Ludwig Vintage

Yeah, I know what you mean, but at least the hardware is fairly inconspicuous. It's not like, like he's got RIMS on the toms, or an over-sized tom arm. But, yeah, if you're selling a vintage kit, it...
