Re: To rack or not to rack?

Chalk me up to one of them (save for my Roland V-drums kit)!

It largely depends on how many toms, cymbals, and accessories you bring to the gig. I use a 4-piece kit with 2 crashes, ride, HH, and...

Re: THE CLASSIFIEDS - For Sale / Wanted

Thinning out the cymbal collection, have too many not getting any more playing time. All in Excellent to Mint shape except where noted.

Shipping is $15 to CONUS each cymbal, can combine if buying...

Re: Can a very (!) cheap drumset sound ok..?

Yep, sure can!

I've recorded 4 of my original band's albums on a beat-up Maxxim (or might be CB) drum kit my one guitarist has with an Acrolite snare. All Evans heads on them and they sound...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

Where can one find/buy that wall mount? It looks like a really skinny kick drum! Love it.

Re: Why the same songs, when so many to choose from?

Yep, that's pretty much how we do it... the band's been around for about 15 years, with me drumming for 10 of it so far. We even have "groupies" (really just common friends lol) that love to see us...

Re: 24x14 vs 22x16 - Can't Decide!

Like others, I have played all kinds of sized kicks, and I have a soft spot for 22x16 but more if I had drum techs or for home studio. For all my gigs nowadays I have bought into the 14" depth...

Re: Drumless backing tracks for training.

Moops, nice to correlate the name here to the Youtube channel you have! I stumbled upon your YT page a while back and have been jamming to your tracks for some time. Excellent stuff, keep them...

Re: Jeff Porcaro on Studio / Sound Engineers

No doubt they were - in the video Jeff says he hates them because they have no dynamics and the sounds are cheesy. Compared to today, things like the Roland TD-50 and Pearl Mimic Pro are either real...

Re: Jeff Porcaro on Studio / Sound Engineers

Yea, I've watched that entire video at least 10 times. Great information that survives to today! The only thing I'd wonder if Jeff was still alive today, would be his opinion on electronic drums...

Re: Anyone else buy this limited Tama kit?

Nice finish! I don't have that limited run but I recently bought a display model of their 2016 Limited Edition B/B 3-pc kit in Electron Blue. It has like a ivory racing stripe in it. The B/B are a...

Re: How does Ludwig Keep Prices down?

Yea, and for the life of me the name of the store escapes me at the moment. I had read about it in a lengthy article about Neil's history with his kits. I think it was some kind of "Five Star" drum...

That is a phenomenal kit. I'm glad to know these collaborations/builds are possible!

Re: A&F Drums @ NAMM - uh oh ?

Pardon my naiveness, but besides the clinics and stuff, isn't that what PASIC is for lol?

I agree though, from reading the experiences posted about NAMMs in the past few years to the present, it...

Re: Are drummers some of the most sexy people?

This reminds me of those internet memes you see a grid of pictures "What my mom thinks I look like", "What my friends think I look like", "What I think I look like", etc etc.

So the "what I think...

Re: New Pearl Snare!

Great wrap! I heard decent things about those snare drums.

In their low to mid ranges, Pearl makes well-built shells even of the Chinese variety. Where possible I use Pearl drums as a base for...

Re: My favorite sizes are not popular in a regular set

I have a similar problem - I like 22x14 kicks with 12x8 and 14x14 toms but usually 22" kicks are 16 or 18 deep and with 16" toms.... at least the standard configs out there... a la carte or custom...

Re: GOT FREE stuff from Evans/D'Addario! Player's Circle rewards

Nice stuff. I use the EQ Pad in every kick drum I own; it provides just enough muffling and purpose.

The Activegrips are real nice. I had a pair of Portnoy and Redmond signatures and they lasted...

Re: Custom IEM doubt and recommendation

I have had custom "musicians" plugs made by Westone that the impressions were done at an Audiologist. They are serving me very well. Sweetwater is currently having a 20% off sale on Westone IEMs so...

Re: How many travelling pro drummers have kids?

I am curious to what Bermuda has to say on the topic; albeit no kids but having a wife. Not that I am in a position currently to leave a home life but if/when that day comes I know what to expect. I...

Re: What is your go to tempo?

Yup that's true! I believe I've read somewhere also that 120 BPM is good for music to do aerobic exercise to since that BPM keeps your hearbeats at an optimum level.

On topic - funny others...

Re: Todd Sucherman here!

OOOO your 22" signature ride - I assume some meld of the Precision/HH/Liquid Ride variety? It does have a nice clear bell and controlled sound - I like!

Todd! Glad for all your accomplishments and work so far!

In the Red Storm video, do you mind sharing what Sabian cymbals you are using around the kit here in your home studio?
