Re: The ubiquity of smaller kits

I've been a 1 up 1 down guy for about 10 years, mostly because I have to put my ride over the kick these days. But lately, I've been digging the 2 up 1 down set up with offset rack toms.

Re: Which set or should I wait for a while.

That natural to charcoal fade looks really good. I've never been a PDP fan at all, but I would actually consider those if I were in the market right now. I wish they offered different sizes though, I...

Re: How many drum kits have you owned?

5 total.

1. 1998 Pearl Export that I bought used in 2002. Sold it in 2008
2. Pork Pie Little Squealer. It served me very well. Sold in 2014
3. 2014 Stage Custom birch. I liked this kit a lot,...

Re: Shallow toms - 20x16" Bass 8 10 12 14FT - Advice

I absolutely loved the sizes of the Stage Customs when I had them last year. Gretsch also has 20x16 version of the Catalina Maples. I've been trying to get rid of my kit to get some of those next.

Re: Tama Silverstar lacquer quality/durability?

They may get their feelings hurt more easily than other drums.

Re: TAMA Superstar Hyperdrive, Maple (2015) vs YAMAHA Stage customs, birch (2014)

You're gonna be happy with what ever choice you made. In that $6-700 price range, most drums are going to be pretty much the same across the board. There will be slight variances in things that...

Re: Mapex Pro M for 300?

Yeah. You're probably right. And that's where I guess I differ from most people. I cannot freaking stand talking on the phone, so I always tell people to reply via email, or give my number and ask...

Re: Mapex Pro M for 300?

Oh well, I guess it's not meant to be anyway. Dude hasn't responded back to me.

If anyone is in Charlotte and wants a cheap set, its on CL. Maybe he'll respond to you.

Re: Mapex Pro M for 300?

I respect that opinion. It's not my intention to buy these just to re-sell them, either. I think I actually would like these drums. But, until I am able to actually sit down with them and play them...

Re: Mapex Pro M for 300?

See, that's one reason I'm wanting to pull the trigger. I've heard nothing but good things about the Pro M and M Birch sets. And I freaking love the bass drum mount and tom mounting hardware. I...

Mapex Pro M for 300?

This seems like too good a deal to pass up, right? From the pics I've seen, they look like they are in pretty good shape as well. I'm almost scared to ask why they are only $300 for fear of making...

Re: 2013 Yamaha Stage Customs

I loved mine when I had them. I got a brand new 2014 kit last May and they were awesome. I would've kept them, but I found a really good deal on a set of Genistas that I didn't want to pass up, so I...

Re: Chinese Maple vs. Canadian Maple vs. North American Maple?

Exactly what I was thinking. I a billion percent agreed with whoever it was that said something along the lines of "if you played them and like the way they sound, that's all that matters."

It...

Re: Pork Pie Snares?

I had a Little Squealer kit for about 5 years and I loved it. The snare was probably my favorite part of the kit. 14x7 maple. I had the satin black kit with the silver powder coated hardware. I'd...

Re: For those who play at church or not.

I consider myself fortunate to be able to play at a church where the ones that make the decisions in regards to the music and sound in general (senior pastor, associate pastor, worship pastor) are...

Re: Starting Back At The Basics Is Very Humbling

I didn't think I was alone in this, but it is cool to hear from some of you guys that I consider to be the more "famous" posters here, lol.

I'm like you beyondbetrayal. I started drumming by...

Re: Rock albums with modern production and a great vintage drum sound

Not sure if this would fall into your category or not, but check out the album "Veheissu" by Thrice. IMO, it has a much less processed drum sound than a lot of modern music.

Starting Back At The Basics Is Very Humbling

I've been playing for 17 years, but never took any lessons and never really cared about technique or very much music theory until about 5 years ago or so. I was also the type of guy that didn't know...

Re: Worth A Trade?

Meh, he sold them today......

I have some one lined up to buy mine tomorrow, so that's at least a small consolation.

I've seen the new Renown Birch kits, they're super nice, but way out of my...

Yeah, been on youtube for the last little bit listening to some kits. A lot of them do have that boomy sound I'm not in love with, but I found 2 videos where they were tuned/head combo made them...

Worth A Trade?

http://greenville.craigslist.org/msg/4842375061.html

So, a guy on craigslist offered these 72 Rogers drums in a trade for my Stage Customs. Is this worth the trade? He has his listed for $800,...

Re: Any Idea On This Kit??

Thanks, for the help so far. He sent me a pic, and a link to an ID thread on a Tama forum. The badge says Made In Japan on the left side, and according to the link, it looks like they might be a 2000...

http://greenville.craigslist.org/msg/4874184842.html
