Re: THE CLASSIFIEDS - For Sale / Wanted

Looking for a 22" Rogers bass drum hoop from the Dayton/Fullerton era in very good to excellent condition, with or without inlay. Please consider that I live in The Netherlands, so the purchase...

Ginger Baker article from yesterday

My bass player posted this link on my facebook page. It's to an article in yesterday's The Independent. I thought those who enjoyed Cream and Blind Faith, etc. might like to read it.

Re: Your body knows what to do...?

It occurs to me that my original post may have sounded too simple-minded. I'll put that down to the beer and the fact that I am simple-minded. I absolutely don't mean to imply that learned and...

Re: Your body knows what to do...?

Well said! I know exactly how you feel. Even after playing for many years, the thrill ain't gone.

Re: Do you think a drummer can't groove if he can't dance?

In the words of the Prophet, "Charlie don't surf and Phil don't dance."

'nuff said.

Your body knows what to do...?

Sitting here listening to music on the radio, drinking a few beers, and thinking about the past 40+ years of playing drums when all of a sudden something occured to me and I'd like to hear the...

Re: The wheels are coming off

Thanks everyone for the input. Here's how it has shaken out as of last night: I convinced the bass and guitar players to talk it out with the old singer. The position they all have now is that the...

Re: ZZ Top AND Lynyrd Skynyrd coming to my town!!! :D

Saw ZZ Top last year with the Doobie Brothers as supporting act. Gotta say, the Doobs rocked the house while ZZ Top looked and sounded like they were just going through the motions. I hope you will...

Re: The wheels are coming off

Again, thanks very much for the additional replies and perspectives. I spoke with the bass player and guitar player last night at rehearsal before the new singer showed up and asked them to discuss...

Re: The wheels are coming off

All good suggestions and I think you all for responding. It's a tough situation for a number of reasons: I think the singer does want to continue, but lacks the self-confidence and live experience....

The wheels are coming off

The past few months, the band I'm in has begun fragmenting, mostly due to issues with our singer. In an effort to hold us together (if that's even possible) I want to describe the situation as I see...

Re: What Would You Like To Hear At A Gig

Personally, what I like to hear most at a gig is applause.

Re: SUPER LIMITED EDITION or not ???

I had the same set but sold it a year ago to finance my Rogers kit. I wish I could have kept them because I loved both the looks and sound. When I bought mine in 2009, I had the same question as to...

Re: A most controversial position

Seems to me that since drums are the oldest instrument, the late-comers such as piano got it wrong. But as far as I am concerned, we should be accepting of other musicians and allow them to continue...

Re: bass drum 22x14 22x16 or 22x18?

Haven't owned at 22x16, but have had a 22x18 and still have a 22x14. I like the 14" depth more for my style of music. I found, as another poster mentioned, 18" too much of a good thing.

Re: I must be outta' my cotton pickin' mind, but...

This. It's what I do in my small flat with my Sonors. If I want to use this kit for a gig, I just throw real heads on it. I had an e-kit for awhile and peddled it. It just didn't feel right to...

Re: Ordering from the US?

This is an important point...I usually get hit with import duty when I buy something from the States. In Holland, it's upwards of 20% so you still come out ahead by ordering your pedals from the...

Re: Bo's Epiphany!

I dunno...it actually seems reasonable to me. I've come to the conclusion that drums sound like drums when played onstage. I would consider tuning far more important than brand or wood choice, but...

Re: Viva la EXPORTS!

The rehearsal rooms my band rents are equipped with Exports and I often use those instead of taking my own kit. I've often heard people say, "They are only Exports" but I find that with a couple...

Re: covers.do you listen to original?

I always listen to any covers my band wants to do...but I listen to different versions. A live version, excepting when there is a signature groove or fill, is very often different from the studio...

Re: What brand of kit do you play?

Rogers 5 piece for my main kit because to me, nothing sounds and looks better. My practice and small-gig kit is a Sonor Force 3000 birch kit because I found them secondhand for a decent price and...
