Re: Karma - how i love thee!!

Now is when you call him and ask if he wants to sub a few gigs.

I think you know what to do next. And since you're in the karma black, you should be able to pull off a punk move without incurring...

Re: Tablet as a music stand?

What I'd do is something like the "dropbox" app. Though this has nothing to do with music, it is a file storage and organization tool. It syncs between more than one device so you can manage lists...

Re: Recurring dream - drum related

Got a pretty funny one from the other night. Only remember one part of the dream.

Somehow in this ridiculous dream, I'm filling in for Hawkins with the freaking foo fighters, playing at some huge...

Re: Recurring dream - drum related

I'm kind of an expert on dreams, and this one probably means that the next time you use the rest room, you'll have something splash back on your bum.

Re: No Drums For 2-3 Weeks :(

Yea, you said you hurt one hand, I didn't see where you can't play drums. Three out of four limbs ain't bad.

Re: Another Band Drama Thread

Aren't you guys doing sound checks? The management doesn't stop it right away if it's too loud for the venue? The sound guy doesn't turn those idiot guitards down?

Re: Elvin Jones Interview from 1968

Journalist write so much differently today than back then. The thoughts seem to be almost scattered and organized in a "lazy" way. These days, we want our information, and we want it fast. The...

Re: hi hat dis-assembly

I live in mid-california. You're maybe thinking of Bo. And actually, rain has been an issue in the past. We usually borrow something with a closed back instead of using the mainstay truck. One...

Re: Not denting heads

I'm theorizing that anyway. You'd literally have to dig into the head, and that's not going produce the good rebound I'm talking about. As I said, I've actually never personally made a dent in any...

Re: Not denting heads

I think you're saying that you're just not worried about correct technique when you play out, and I can see that. To me, I have just played off the drum for so long that it's never something I think...

Re: The matching snare

Got a birch snare that came with the superstar customs... Never really play it. I always liked metal snares.

Re: hi hat dis-assembly

I just throw it in the truck as is after taking the cymbals off it.

Re: Not denting heads

It's a matter of good technique being consistently used. I can play a whole punk show and have no dents at all regardless that I'm playing really fast, over super loud guitars. Play off the drum,...

Re: Good exercises for developing mobility around the set?

Take some of the patterns from stick control, and apply them around the kit.

Re: Important question from the new guy.

With the exception of the organic vaseline, all those questions are actually more important. Trust me, you do not want to wander around Hollywood with a broken zipper. That kind of thing might fly...

Re: Deciding on Album Artwork?

I think that's a pretty personal choice... Know any artist friends? Have em mock up some stuff and let the band check it out!

Could you give an example of a less-important question?

Re: Favorite Song to Rock out To?

Rage against the machine's self titled is a killer album to rock out with. Brad's playing is so perfect for that stuff.

Re: Mic Cables...

Grab a soldering iron and open up the plug housing on your broken cables. You'd be surprised how simple they are, and how easily they are fixed.

Re: Trimmed down kits

So I think this thread clearly shows that small kits are much better than big kits, and that big kits make you an un-creative boring drummer. Can't believe we finally got to the truth of this...

Re: Trimmed down kits

If you note, I'm not actually saying that a small kit is better for anyone but myself. I guess in a way it's taking sides, but not really. We got on a little tangent regarding the extension of...

Re: Trimmed down kits

That's not really the same thing, but we could start demanding that guitar players only play double-necked 12 string guitars... Or that all bass players would be more creative if they only had 9...

Re: Trimmed down kits

I guess it all depends how you look at it. Most snare drummers I know have spent way, way more time going over how to be creative with their one drum than most kit drummers I know do. They obsess...

Re: Trimmed down kits

The answer is yes. It would be really fun to see a kind of graph of his kit parts from most-used to least used. There must be stuff on there that he doesn't touch. There just has to be.
