Re: Ludwig Supraphonic - 5" or 6.5" depth?
I have both the LM400 & the LM402. Guess which one gets played the most?
If you guessed the 402 (6.5 inch), then you guessed right.
Now, would I ever give up the 400? Not a chance!
I...

Re: The future of the drumset think tank
How about tightening all heads (Batter & Reso) to a certain "X" factor with each drum having a suspended mini-microphone built in. You could then adjust the tone, resonance, etc. of each drum...

Re: Band drama
In a former band I played in, the other guys did just that (without my knowledge) and it was decidedly so that their timing sucked.
They kept blaming me for the slow downs or speed ups, but all I...

Re: Band drama
Oh boy, we haven't had a band drama thread for a while!
The metronome doesn't lie.

Re: $50 yard sale score
You had me totally terrified when I read the title to this thread.
My wife is having a yard sale today and I thought that maybe she sold my drums. Scary moment!!

Re: MB's Random Question Thread
I don't think Ive ever seen a 26 x 18, but yeah, it would be a boom monster.
Most all bass drums used to be shallower, typically around 14 to 16 inches. I believe (but maybe I'm wrong) that the...

Re: MB's Random Question Thread
"Open up" means the cymbal's sound blossoms more quickly. The thicker the cymbal (or heavier) the more energy it take to get the sound out of the cymbal.
To me however, thinner cymbals lack a...

Re: MB's Random Question Thread
Do yourself a favor and save those "specialty" cymbals for another time. Practice playing your drums and learning to play those Zildjian A's. They'll suffice for just about anything you play. ...

Re: MB's Random Question Thread
The Zildjian A's will be great cymbals for you. I seriously doubt that you won't like them. Probably at least half the drummers in the world have these cymbals... and for good reason.

Re: MB's Random Question Thread
Only that it's the best year of cymbal production in the last five centuries!!
Like fine wine, for example a bottle of 1945 Mouton Rothschild. Only now, is it ready to enjoy.

Re: MB's Random Question Thread
If the Bonham cymbal pack floats your boat, go for it.
I went through many cymbals after I first started but couldn't find anything that floated said boat. Then one day I came across an 18" Giant...

The Foo Fighters are close with "Learn to Fly."

Re: Noob first snare paralysis
Don't spend time worrying about the P-85 throw off, it's a waste of time. I've had 3 Ludwig snares with the P-85 and none of them have ever given me a problem. Besides, 99.9% of the time the throw...

Just wondering... Bo, didn't you say (maybe a couple of months ago) that you were now going to be a one drum set guy? Now you're back up to 3 - as far as I know.
I have to say, those Ludwigs are...

Re: The thing you bought but you never use
A cowbell for me too. I only use it for two songs (which I haven't played in quite a while). But hey, a drummer needs a cowbell, it's just one of those things we gotta have, right?

Re: Do You Drum While Not Drumming?
