Re: Help me identify Premier set

Nelman81,

Thanks for chiming in.

Re: TOM TUNING

Ok, listened to the recording again.
I see now what sounded like "Diplomats" to me was the snare drum.
Oddly enough, when you're playing a backbeat, it sounds like the snare wires are pulled too...

Re: TOM TUNING

Congrats, you've just discovered the reason why DW prints the note of the shell on the inside of their shells!

What are you using for batter heads in that recording?
They almost sound like...

Re: TOM TUNING

I have a 10 on my kit, although mine is Ludwig Classic Maple.
What I found is that the Aquarian MV head are too thick to give a good sound.
I too got a very muted, choked sound on my drums, too. ...

evolving_machine, and anyone else for that matter, you do whatever makes you happy.
I was only stating my opinion on the practicality of possessing music virtually.

Re: ...for the jazz cats ...

8Mile,

To "rip" is to copy something onto your computer.
It's usually used concerning music or video pieces.
If you lend me an album for me to try out, and I really like the music, I can "rip"...

Re: TOM TUNING

Right on, Winegums.
Its never occurred to me that I needed anything more.
Nobody's ever complained about the sound of my drums.
Seems like you've had the same experience.

Re: TOM TUNING

Got news for ya, Red.
I AM one of those "old school cats".
At first, yeah, I muffled the crap outta my drums, but as time went on, I pulled more and more muffling off.
These days, I run pretty...

Re: TOM TUNING

I'm very happy for Bishop, but it makes me wonder....for those that have been doing this for long enough to pre-date the internet....how did we ever accomplish this with just a drumkey?

Re: (Keller) Shells, thickness, counterhoops, bearing edges...I need help

Steve,

It's cool.
Just seemed a little thin, compared to what I've seen listed at Keller dealer sites....however....Everyone used to say the 8 ply Keller shells were 6mm thick, too, so I guess...

Re: I need a bigger car for a bigger kick drum

I fit a similarly sized kit into my '68 VW bug back in the 80's. Had room for a passenger, too.
The next car was a '73 Chevy Vega GT Wagon. My WHOLE kit (add 12TT and 14FT to yours), 3 guitars and a...

Re: I need a bigger car for a bigger kick drum

Could you buy a small trailer and just put all your stuff in there?
....then you'd have room for the rest of the bands stuff in your car. =)

You'd have to build the box (not that hard), but less...

"... I got the drums, 12/13/16/18/24..."

Just noticed the sizes. 70's Ludwig's in those sizes would be "The Sib Hashian Signature Kit"...or at least, it should be.....and if you don't know who...
