Re: Does Trad grip make you "think" differently?

That was thought provoking. He has a very convincing argument about why one should be playing Trad grip. He said not learning Trad grip is like saying you want to learn piano, but you don't want to...

Re: How many have matching snare finish & brand with rest of kit?

I still have the stock 6.5"x14" snare that came with my Ludwig Element Birch kit that I bought a couple years ago. I actually use it at band practice with my SC kit (he he he). I also changed out...

Re: Does Trad grip make you "think" differently?

For me, holding it different brings out a different approach in my left hand like in the accents, press rolls, timing of the fills, etc. I mean, it's not a huge difference, but it helps me think of...

Does Trad grip make you "think" differently?

Even though I'm not very good at Trad grip, it does seems to make me approach things differently and think differently too.

I would say even if you're not a trad grip player and you're working on...

Re: Beginner Metal Songs?

Have you heard the new Judas Priest album, Firepower? It's really badass! I like the song Rising From the Ruins. Seems like an easy song to play, with a little practice.

Re: Should I trade?

As good as the Sensitone is, I think you made the wise choice. Of course, I am biased because I have a Pork Pie Big Black too. It’s my gigging snare. I wouldn’t trade it. It’s a damn fine snare drum.

So you're saying a dampener is a sponge?

Re: Noob first snare paralysis

Great choice man. You can't go wrong with a brass Sensitone. She's a beauty. Happy drumming!

Re: Noob first snare paralysis

Re: Noob first snare paralysis

I agree with the advice on getting a Supraphonic or an Acrolite, but also have a look at INDe snare drums. I just bought a 6.5x14 INDe Aluminum snare drum, and it is awesomeness. I would also...

Re: The thing you bought but you never use

Very cool and interesting. Glad I asked. You learn something new every day. I can see how steel hoops might be better.

Re: The thing you bought but you never use

What is an Acrolite prototype?

Truthfully, I pretty much use everything I have. Otherwise, I wouldn't have bought it.

Re: Booted out of band, advice needed

Dude, I went as far as getting rid of my drums, but I've always kept my necessary cymbals and hardware for a set-up. If you're really serious about taking a break from drumming, at least hold on to...

Re: Is it acceptable to audition for multiple groups/bands?

Ain't that the truth, but I'm looking for a good vibe and music that gels with me. If I go to an audition, it would be an audition with a band that interests me musically. For me, the audition is to...
