Re: What's your latest purchase?

You should add some high-end snares to your collection!
Gorgeous drum and on my bucket list.

Re: Namm 2019 rumors

Except they used the new butt plate when the correct P-32 is available.

Re: Namm 2019 rumors

I believe they moved to China because Sakae wanted to go out on their own. We all know what happened with that.
I'm not impressed with the Chinese drums. The lack of finishes and options after...

Re: New for Ludwig in 2019?

Musicians Friend and GC still don't have the Ludwig Heirloom Brass snares that were introduced at NAMM 2018!
I had bonus points at MF that I wanted to use for one and they expired. No new drums this...

Re: New for Ludwig in 2019?

Yes.
Just offer the Club Date shell with Classic lugs. Keep the rounded edges.

Re: What's the deal with those Ludwig Standard drums?

Do yourself a favor and get the Standards and don't forget the aluminum snare. Love mine.

Re: Just Back From a Ludwig Factory Tour... Any Questions?

I have four or five Speed Kings. I'm over forty and it's the pedal I grew up with. I switched to DW 5000 and 9000 pedals about thirty years ago and have not looked back. Every once in a while, I'll...

Re: No GAS

After buying a Black Beauty, Noble and Cooley SS Cherry and a Ludwig Heirloom Stainless Steel the last few Black Fridays, I could not find anything that tempted me this year.
And I'm okay with it.

This.
The PDP's aren't bad either.

Re: Just Back From a Ludwig Factory Tour... Any Questions?

They offer bronze Supraphonics. All they would need to do is plate it in black nickel.

Re: The ubiquitous LM400

Ludwig prices have gone up but they still sell a ton of snare drums.
Why not go the used route? There are plenty of fine examples out there. Here's my 1978 LM400 that i got for $175.

Re: Aluminum snare 14 inch die cast hoops

Mine showed up Saturday.
Shipped only in plastic wrap but they are perfect. A real steal for the price.

Re: Deep bass drums

Yep.
Even though I own three kits with 18x22 bass drums, the look bothers me. They sound great, though.
When I order a kit, it's always a 14 or 15" deep bd.

Re: Aluminum snare 14 inch die cast hoops

If they are warped or in any other way defective, I get my $'s back and return shipping is on the seller. No worries.

Re: Aluminum snare 14 inch die cast hoops

Thanks!
Just ordered a pair. No risk with PayPal.
If these are anything like the Yamaha hoops, that's a steal.

Re: Namm 2019 rumors

I'd like a virgin bass drum option and the myriad of size and finish choices that the Sakae-made Absolutes had.

Re: Namm 2019 rumors

Yes but "wider selection of finishes" is not in the Yamaha vocabulary!

Re: If you could decide for your favorite manfacturer's standard sizes?

When I ordered my DW Pure Cherry kit, I specified 8x12/9x13/14x15/15x16/15x22.
I like traditional depths but I wanted something a bit different. I don't like power toms and 18" deep bass drums,...

Re: Noble and Cooley new snares available.

I had a maple 3 7/8 x 14 and if you like the piccolo sound, there is none better.

Re: Going from a USA Pork Pie to a USA Ludwig Maple classic - what to expect?

The new Ludwig Club Dates, with their maple/poplar/maple shells and round bearing edges will give you a vintage sound with light weight. The limited edition mahogany/poplar/mahogany Club Dates even...

Re: What brands holds their value the most

I agree with the DW odd size and finish choices reducing resale value. Just because you can get whatever you want, it doesn't mean you should! Short stack toms come to mind.
Having said that, I've...

Re: Ludwig Legacy Maple Drums?

Love my 13/16/24 Legacy Maples.
I have clears emps on them now but I have a set of Ludwig Silver Dots that will go on next. I have them on my early 70's three ply/clear interior kit and they are...
