Re: HELP: about to get embarrassed

Disregard my earlier sarcasm. I do appreciate all this advice in all its quantity and great quality. I've talked to the professor and he talked like it's supposed to be the most laid back gig he does...

HELP: about to get embarrassed

So I recently took a gig that I think I might regret taking. A couple of nights ago, one of the guys who is in the percussion studio with me here at my college texted me asking if I could fill in for...

Re: Drummers Using a Metronome. A Helpful Questionnaire.

Regardless of the integrity of his motives, I would like to congratulate the OP on a wonderful username.

Sincerely,

Re: DCI finals night

I got to meet the guys at a rehearsal one day. All super nice. Top bass player is 100% Japanese. Can barely speak English and moved all the way to the states just to march drum corps for 2-3 months....

DCI finals night

Did anyone catch the livestreams or happen to go live? I was happy to hear that Bluecoats finally won. Been following them all year, even met them for a day. This was surely their night, but Crown...

COOP3R got big

Thought this was kinda cool. Not sure if I will give my money, but it does seem like something cool to say you were a part of.

Re: Need to get my sizes in check

Thanks alot, that all makes sense. Just needed a tune up it seems. Plus, now that I'm back from the beach, they sound good as they did when I first got them. I think sometimes when you are with...

Need to get my sizes in check

When I was getting my kit(DW performance), I originally planned on getting a 6 piece with 10/12/14/16 toms and a 22 kick. I didn't have the $$ to get the whole kit at once so I started out with a 4...

Re: Gretch to make a MAJOR announcement on June 6. What could it be?

How are we sure it is a MAJOR announcement? It would be funny if it ended up being something simple like new tension rods or something else little like that.

Judging from the picture, maybe a new...

Re: Hard time playing fast 8's

I understand it can be in the way and i agree 100%, larry, but it can also be constructive depending on how you look at it. If this was a song that i was playing for a band, i would so just sacrifice...

Re: Hard time playing fast 8's

This is all very helpful. My first thought was that it was just going to take some met practice and a little molar. I wish i could be one of those guys who did't think about technique and just did...

Re: Hard time playing fast 8's

11X190=2090 times 2 for eighth notes is 4180 notes in 11 minutes. That makes it sound easier ;)

It's funny because I do kill myself practicing legato exercises for marching snare drum and i get so...

Hard time playing fast 8's

I recently started jamming to a song that I like to listen to. It's an alt-rock kind of song that is around 190 bpm.

After the first chorus, the whole song is just a basic snare on 2 & 4, bass 1...

Re: DW Performance Series bass drum help

You have to take into account, though, the performance series basses aren't x shells(last time I checked), which are a little lower than the performance. That's why the 20" is getting such a low end....

Just check this out.

Re: New drumless track to help practice changing between time signatures

I liked all the tracks you made on your channel. Very helpful and they sounded really good quality. The time signature thing was cool, maybe make another one just with different times like 4/4 to 7/8...

Re: DCI 2015

The only thing is, the Blue Devils haven't been below fourth place, I think, in like a decade or more. Sounds to me like they're not going anywhere. The corps like them get good, then get money, and...

Re: DCI 2015

Too right. I hope to be able to say the same thing one day. Bloo would be a dream come true, but that's alot of $$$. Probably will try out for Spirit. Closer to home.

That's pretty unfortunate...

Re: DCI 2015

Finally saw some recordings from opening night. Cadets still killed it on their first night. They had a french horn feature and 10 snare drums, yet still amazingly clean. Crown had a very exciting...

Re: DCI 2015

I can't say I'm very familiar with the Kingsmen. That's a little too ahead of my time, but they were the first ever DCI champs weren't they? That makes them sound pretty awesome to me.

I...
