Re: To rack or not to rack?

Re: space. In terms of total width, anything that falls outside of your hihat leg on one side, & your floor tom on the other side, is space that can be saved using a rack. If your current stand...

Re: Favorite high end drum kit- model and brand?

Within a broad but still limited reference experience, I can agree with this statement, but there are still instruments on the periphery with signature delivery characteristics that can have strong...

Re: Get better Andy!

Thank you all again for your support & routes to inspiration. Motivation & confidence are two things that haven't suffered. I'm even more determined to get stuff done, but also more focussed in my...

Re: Get better Andy!

Mortality well & truly tested Grunt :(

Update - my sticking is getting a bit better on the pad (first time I've done any pad work in years). Short sessions (10 min's max), but seems to be working...

Re: New Drums Weekend!

That's a very bold glitter, & has a real depth + class to it.

Re: Drum Hack: Floor Tom Sustain

All good stuff Ben - very useful "on the fly" fixes for sure.

Grounding is often underestimated in terms of it's affect on drums, & so is overall mass of the instrument. Increasing grounding, &...

Re: Get better Andy!

Guys,

thank you again for your super kind thoughts = really appreciated, but I feel a little awkward / undeserving with the 7/11 & sticky thing. I'm just another forum member who had a tough week.

Re: Get better Andy!

Thank you all again for your kind thoughts - it really is humbling, & appreciated more than you know.

Thought I'd take a shot of my face day 7 after the "event". I've never exactly been an oil...

Re: Get better Andy!

Aside from obvious physical impact, stroke can be a cruel & indiscriminate thief of personality, & that's especially sad as it impacts loved ones so profoundly too. Thankfully, I'm still the...

Re: Get better Andy!

Pretty much sums up the current status :)

In other news, the gig I thought I was doing has been pulled, by my own band!!! I received the "non negotiable" call earlier. For once, I've been...

Re: Get better Andy!

You all just did - this thread = so unexpected & so not necessary, but I'm humbled & heartened by your kind words & thoughts.

I'm just a normal guy trying to cut a path through life without...

Re: merch

Just Tees for now, but there seems to be quite a call for caps with an embroidered logo, & vest tops for the ladies too.

Larry, unless you're a band selling large numbers, you'll come across the...

Re: 2 up with a 12" tom as the smallest

Correct Larry. I have the same 10" tom, & it delivers really well acoustically with my setup, & of course, just perfectly under mic's (something it's designed to excel at). The key here is context.

Re: RIP Jon Hiseman

I only met Jon twice, but enough for me to register him as a truly inclusive gentleman of drumming. I spent a day with him in a clinic setting that I was partly organising, & partly taking a minor...

Re: This morning's challenge!

of course, I wasn't there, but I'm not so sure ported is a great idea, at least, not in that room. The 28" bass drum sat comfortably, partly because of the low end "bloom" you get from a full head. ...

Re: Bearing edge reapair

It's a snare bed formed by lifting the crimp line to cause a deliberate depression in the bearing edge. All good, except your photo's make it look like it doesn't line up centrally with the strainer...

Re: Taking charge of your posters

Wow - some great examples here, & I'm loving the "old school" poster art approach :)

Here's my latest one - designed for social media promotion on the day of the gig. Pretty pleased with it, & it...

Re: Mixing wood types in one drum kit

Without going into detail, the wood species differences become more noticeable, or less noticeable - non existent, depending on the instrument's construction. This is why players often report...
