i believe that a huge part of the drum's sound comes from tuning so it's highly possible you played a poorly tuned Armory kit!

btw get that meridian maple it looks gorgeous. what a deal too.

from the time that sakae split from yamaha up till recently, most made in japan yamaha drums have been sold already!! you might want to try cymbalfusion.com or memphisdrumshop.com, maybe greenbrier...

i think 10" 16" 22" is an awesome combo.

but it totally depends on the type of music you play, what sound you are going for and also how you tune your drums.

benny greb usually uses 10" 16"...

Thanks for the reply! That's true, I paid for the insurance so I should be covered. Now I have to decide if I wanna replace my drums now or wait.

yea put some muffling on that if not it'll resonate in a way that makes it not sound like a bass drum. with smaller bass drums,obv higher tunings work as for whether the batter should be higher etc...

schlagwerk 2 in 1 cajons like the one in my display picture are really good and are cheaper than the more conventional(and IMO worser sounding) meinl/L cajons. may be hard to get your hands on one...
