Yes. The actual shell needs to be 1.5" shorter than overall height you'd like the snare to be. You will need to change to longer tension rods with a taller shell.

Just to clarify: The drummer on almost all of the Carpenters' studio tracks was the great Hal Blaine.

There are many clips on a YouTube of Karen playing live in which she showed her drumming...

Out of curiosity, has anyone tried putting a gloss or semi-gloss coating on the Signet drums. I think the Ebony finish, for example, might perk up quite nicely.

I have heard them on store display...
