Re: Yamaha Drums

Those look absolutely killer. Congrats, what a great find.
I still say that overall, RC's are the greatest drums ever made - in their price range.

Keep 'em shined up!

The price point will be a big factor here (I know it...

Re: Yamaha Drums

Yamaha/Akira's new signature snare is … a 1.0mm steel shell? Really?

Re: Yamaha Drums

Yeah, nice setup Wes. I really like the gong bass drum, always wanted to try that. I've never had enough space to try it out ! No kidding.
I've got an 18" floor tom that is perfect candidate too. ...

Re: Just browsing - cool steel snares

Dunnett snares are certainly high end, and you might be able to find used ones for a not too insane price. The 2N is especially nice if you like brass…

The best metal snare I have ever heard is...

Great!! Yes, there's something magical about these snare drums. Is it the Kapur I wonder? It's got a fat punch about it that is just awesome.

Re: Yamaha Drums

I know what you mean Wes, and I generally agree. I was comparing Oak Customs to Live Customs…and I was stressing the differences were subtle. It is difficult to express , the sound of a drum, we are...

Honestly, I haven't played them that much and they are on the way out, I'm selling them soon. Not because they are deficient in any...

Re: Yamaha Drums

You done good Chris.
I have about a dozen more than a sane amount of snare drums ; two of them are Club Custom snares and they are my favourite 5/5.5" depth wood drums, hands down. They really...

Beech wood! 8 plies. Only beech drum I own. I like it.
For some reason, I've never been interested in having a full beech kit.

Re: Gong-tastic!

Yes, I'll try some tennis racket string at a sporting goods store for this weekend's gig.
If I end up buying this one, I'll check out that eBay store.
