Re: My personal list of rock and roll's top cowbell moments

First I have to 2nd B. J. Wilson's "Power Failure" work. B. J. was one of my earliest influences. A really great player with a wonderful feel for the dynamics of the songs.

I'm surprised no one...

Re: The "Jimi Hendrix of drums"

Like many have already stated, Tony Williams comes to mind first. Someone that experimented more with sounds would also make me think - possibly Bill Bruford.

The of course Mitch Mitchell might...

Re: Worst song ever

Well, since "worse song" is really a matter of opinion and personal taste, I would have to cast my vote for "Color My World" (or is that Colour My World?).

If I had a dollar for every time I had...

Re: Musical artists whose death saddened you.

Tony Williams
Jimi Hendrix
Richie Havens
Levon Helm
To name but a few that come to mind right now.

I have to add Minnie Riperton.

Re: playing along with stuff

Reminds me of the days when I first started playing. Practicing with vinyl meant finding a place in the room for the turntable where playing drums wouldn't cause the record to skip. (regardless of...

Re: Drumming Karma

I saw the doors several times while they toured their first few albums. All very good shows. You shouldn't feel bad about coming in 2nd to them in something as silly as a band battle and feeling...

Re: defying conventional drum set up for unique sound

I used to tape a split off tip from a stick to my brushes with the tip extending an inch or so up the wires. Added a little punch when swatting a drum and tip tick on cymbals.

Re: For the rockers - I've lost the will to headbang

I occasionally go out to see friends playing but the venue's are jazz/dinner clubs.(My friends and I are in our 60's) There's always a table. I never go to bars any more.

If there's a really...

Re: Tilting the snare

Re: What's with The Who?

For me, the Who's catalog has stood the test of time. I can still enjoy listening to most of their records. As for Moon, I don't see his work as very complex but it was very dynamic. I see Moon as...
