Re: Should you always be keeping time with the left foot?

Ideally we should be able to do whatever we want with the HH foot. Keep time, place it on offbeats or not play it at all, and then just choose at the moment what you feel is most appropriate for the...

I'm trying to get 4-6 hours a day for 6 day a week, I like a day off, that day I might mess with the pad for a bit or work on transcriptions. It's not always possible tho, today I only got two good...

Re: Comparing ones abilities with others

You have something to bring to the table. Don't forget that.

There's a kid in the jazz scene here, 21-22 years old. A complete virtuoso, this guy has the potential to be a world class drummer in...

Re: Drummers As Leaders

I lead a group. I write the compositions (which is the reason I assembled the group in the first place) make the arrangements, schedule rehearsals and gigs and pay the other musicians.

Being a...

Re: Is it OK to talk about the movie "Whiplash" yet?

I have a buddy who's a pilot and he can't see movies with flying involved (Flight starring Denzel Washington) for more than five minutes without rolling his eyes and stating how absolutely ridiculous...

Re: Going to jams and getting my ass musically kicked is a good thing.

Went to a jam, the drummer for the house band was stuck in traffic, i'm the only drummer there so the sax player looks to me and says "let's play", I use some cheap cymbals that happened to be at the...
