thanks for all the replies. the complete drum manual does look good- i'll certainly give that a go. As for the software I have got a cheap drum programme which I use quite alot to transcribe videos...

How useful are piccolo snares?

I've been looking into purchasing a piccolo snare to do drum n bass kind of things but can they actually be used in an everyday playing situation?

thanks alot for the tips. When you mention using the wrist for the first stroke and then using the fingers to snap back is this similar to the push/pull method? Is this how you execute double strokes...
