Bringing this topic back....
Been soaking myself in some of the Moodies stuff on Youtube, one video I keep watching over and over is their performance of "Nights In White Satin" at the 1970 Isle...

Re: Jim Hodder
Speaking of which, last Thursday (June 5th) was the 18th year of his passing. He was only 42 when the drumming world lost him.
After he left SD, didn't he start doing session work? He was reported...

Jim Hodder
Anyone dig his work with Steely Dan? He had some good drumming on "Do It Again" and "Reelin in the Years". He had a killer snare/hi-hat groove at the beginning of "Bodhisaitva".
He did a great job...

Re: John Bonham
Just wanted to wish Bonzo a belated birthday... he would have been 60 two Saturdays ago. I watched The Song Remains the Same and some of the concerts on the DVD in his honor.

Re: Ronnie Tutt Drum Setup??
Correction, they would have been more on the lines of 12', 10', 8', and 6'. Little brain fart on my part there... Now that I think of it as well his rack toms were 12' in depth, not 10.
Now...

Re: Ronnie Tutt Drum Setup??
Yep, you're right. Plus he put resonant heads back on his tom-toms as well.
As for what heads Ronnie used, I have neither the slightest idea what he used.

Re: Ronnie Tutt Drum Setup??
Now back to the specs, i'd say his floor toms are both 16x16 and 18x16, his tom-toms would be 14x10 and 12x10, and concert toms would be 10, 8, 6, and 4
and lastly i'd say his snare is a 5x14. And...

Notice clear heads on his drums, and no resonant heads on his toms

Re: Ronnie Tutt Drum Setup??
BTW, happened to come across this picture, of Ronnie playing a blue sparkle Ludwig in 1970. Don't know if it was the same kit seen in 1972-1973. Is it just me, or is he playing two different sized...

Re: Ronnie Tutt Drum Setup??
More than likely he used Zildjians in the 1970's, he started using Paiste cymbals in October 1982, according to the Paiste site. Liked how he had all his crashes and ride all on his right, and a lone...

Re: Ronnie Tutt Drum Setup??
I think the basses were 24x14.
The Chrome-over-wood drumkit he got after that one in mid-1974 was the same specs, but this one had four rack toms rather than two.

Has anyone listened to the album Coda? If you listen to "Bonzo's Montreux" you can hear his squeaky bass drum pedal clear as day!

Re: Weight of a drumset?
I would presume a set made entirely of stainless steel is heavy as a boat anchor.
Or do they weigh pretty light as well?

Weight of a drumset?
I have a question I have just been wanting to ask, what is the average weight of a drumset, fully set up and of the individual drums? Don't know if this has been asked before or not.

It should be known that in the video they were the opening band for Queen. If you look behind Bob you can see Roger's drumset several times throughout, especially in part two.
Another song from...

Looks like it is one... compared pictures of some Slingerland drum kits with the drum kit in the video, and the lugs and bass drum legs appear to match. Don't know if dove grey (or even primer gray...

Re: ? on Bob Burns's drums
Yep, the drummer in the video is none other than LS's first drummer, Bob Burns. Artimus replaced him in '75. That video was filmed in late 1974 i think, when Burns was on his way out, along with Ed...

Guys, I was watching this video of Lynrd Skynrd performing "Free Bird", and the drummer (Bob Burns) is playing a rather odd-colored drumset, it looks like gray in color.
I probably have watched...

Found this video of him from 1976, he's playing with Boz Scaggs. Hard to believe he's only 22 here.
