I never thought...

Re: Drum fads: Past, present...and future?

+1, wildbill. And kind of interesting to me, that while 35 or 40 years ago Steve made these sizes, and hanging floor toms popular, he always stayed "traditional" with his bass drum. 22 x 14 then and...

Re: Drum fads: Past, present...and future?

I saw a Jethro Tull concert in 1979. UK was the opening band; Bozzio was using his roto tom kit then. Loved it at the time.

Re: Stage Banter

Good point Larry, and a very key point being, "doesn't have to be a lot of words, just fun words." When a front person unfortunately doesn't understand the difference, near silence is better than...

Re: Stage Banter

I'm another one who prefers minimal banter at a gig. Like the others say, when you do, don't force it or try to be a rock star. Just be yourself.

At the end of the first set, "Thank you, we're...

Re: I filmed my drum teacher, what do you think?

I agree wholeheartedly with Andy. Walter has a great attitude, a desire to share his gift and gladly pass on knowledge. One is lucky to find a teacher like that.

And yes, welcome to the forum.

Re: Buddy Rich Playing Matched Grip!

Winegums, you've got it totally backwards here mate. Anthony has posted many thought out responses as well as posted video of his playing for evidence of his statements, only to be met with snarky...

Re: Buddy Rich Playing Matched Grip!

Les, your constant arguments on this topic are akin to a child plugging it's ears, squeezing it's eyes shut while shouting No!..No!...No!...Enough trolling, give it a rest.

Re: Making a difference - Oz update :)

Andy, I can't exactly come up with the words; that's some of the best kind of use for playing live music - helping out someone like that. Very touching.

And now, like Red said, pimp out them...

Re: Is Ringo a good drummer?

Oh, you're so wrong on that point...very sorry. ;) When my son was a toddler he was a regular watcher of Thomas the Tank Engine, and Ringo far out shined ol' George as Mr. Conductor.

And that from...

Re: Hating your playing, sometimes or always.

Could it be that you're just tired of your own playing? This has happened with me.

Maybe you hear yourself and you think, "well there it is again - same ol', same ol'." I get that way (kind of...
