Re: In defence of multiple toms.

I'm working OS with lots of travel involved, so have not been able to follow DW much for the last few years, but I caught this thread. I like Andy's approach to answer the question he'd asked of...

Re: Are my drums dying?! [HELP]

In a humid country like Malaysia you will have rust problems with ANY drum kit that does not have stainless steel (or aluminium) hardware. Even away from the coast you will have high humidity because...

Re: Full review - Origin series Performance range kit.

Andy I've been away from the forum for some time and was really amazed at how the Guru drums have worked out! Congratulations to you and Dean on a superbly executed drum concept. I hope you achieve...

Re: Please help Guru find the best drum stores.

Can't help you with the US and European stores, but I hope your venture becomes a success so I might see one of your stunning drums in Australia. But note that most musical instrument stores here...

Re: Need Help (Buying Drum set)

Do you know any experienced woodworkers? If so, I'd suggest (assuming you buy a second hand kit) you ask them to recut your bearing edges. Do some research into what type of bearing edge is likely to...

Re: The highest compliment

Agree, one of the best compliments to the drummer is the audience engaging in the music by dancing along to the music. Even if they're not on the dance floor but you see them bobbing their heads or...

Re: Staining and bearing edge question.

If you applied thin coats of poly then the build up should be minimal. In this case I would go with KIS' advice and sand the poly off.

If you applied a heavy coat of poly, then I assume there are...

Is this the first music video of a Wac'd snare?

I think this might be the first music video featuring a snare with Wac'd lugs http://birdslovefighting.com/2011/10/reasoned-by-waterford/

Re: Whats the song and drummer that made you want to play drums?

I never knew this was a loop. That's it, I'm quitting drums! Seriously, though, this song is the first time I really noticed drums when I was a kid. That's when I started paying attention to the...

Re: Brady vs other drums

Check out my avatar - jarrah shell in Sleishman hardware. OK, the shell's not by Brady, I made it myself, but it's an awesome combination!

Re: Totally new drum concept, the build journey.

Andy

firstly let me say how much I like the black cage with the natural mahogany. Personally, I prefer this to chrome.

Second, might reducing tom depth might increase head sustain?

Finally,...

Re: My drum buying survey. A moment of your time please (no links)

Good question. I put quality of sound first as I absolutely focus first and foremost on shell material (including wood species), bearing edge design, amount of hardware attached to the shell etc. I...

Work is sending me to Cincinnati and I'll have a couple of days either side to check out some drum/guitar gear. So I thought I'd check if there's any good stores anyone can recommend. I've done a...

How are the lugs holding up?

Since posting my review I've used the snare in 6 live sessions ranging from 45 minute to 3.5 hour sessions.

How do the lugs hold their tuning? As well or better than any other lugs I've used. I...

Re: Your votes please! Short or long sustain.

I play a free floating kit with single ply heads and absolutely no muffling - so yes, I prefer plenty of sustain.

Re: Wac’d Drums free floating lugs – some considerations

What I meant to say here is that by using batter and reso heads of the same thickness you should be able to achieve the same tension on both heads.

Over the next couple of months I will be using this snare in rehearsals, gigs and for recording. So I will be able to update this review with:

-...

Wac’d Drums free floating lugs – some considerations

WHY YOU WOULD WANT FREEFLOATING DRUMS
Ease of tuning! The Wac’d Drums system has a single tension rod per lug. This cuts down tuning time. I’m not sure if it’s because of the spring, but I found it...
