Re: Canít hear my kick!

Use to play in a band with guitarists very much like this, the problem is it becomes the norm and almost accepted.

For example the songs they wanted to soundcheck at venues were the...

Re: Maybe I'm done compensating for my height ;)

Ah that’s cool. Sounds like it suits you and is comfortable.

.....Eh?

Maybe just admit you fancy another change. I say go for it if it’s what you fancy trying.

Re: I don't understand why people close mic

I've got experience recording both close mic and with the Glyn Johns method in two vintage professional/high end studios both times with the same producer/engineer.

Room Mic/Glyn Johns method was...

Re: Why is jazz drumming still so dominant?

For me, it's still visible as it's the pinnacle of our art/instrument.

You have to be a great technician and have an even better/sympathetic ear for the music around you.

Also with Jazz you're...

Re: Premier Royal Ace Info Needed.

Nick's great, if there's any leads on them he'll be sure to know but I seem to recall him saying a while back that there was no one producing them currently.

Fingers crossed that's not the case...

Re: Premier Royal Ace Info Needed.

I'll be keeping an eye on this thread as I have the exact same issue.

I know 'Nick Hopkin Drums' had a supplier a while back and would occasionally get a very low amount of wires every so often,...

Re: Current drum trends you wish would go away

I dont really have any gear peeves but the one that does grate is drum gear videos where someone talks for the most of the clip/over the audio of the product the video is supposed to be promoting.

Re: Kick Snare & Hat

Whatever the music calls for. There are no rules.

Non drummers aren't going to care/understand what gear I'm playing and I'd certainly not worry about a drummer in the audience getting "kinda" mad...

Re: I don't understand why people close mic

Have to respectfully disagree with your opening statement. A drum kit isn't a single instrument, it's a collection of separate instruments played by one person.

It's just thought of by most/some...

Re: 5 DW Collector's Series Shell Types Tested - Video

Again, another great video. Really impressed by the quality again so you have another subscriber.

Got to say the maple series are my favourites, as I have the same kit (same finish) so I'm...

Re: Ultimate Ludwig USA Drum Set Shootout - Video

That's a great video, really enjoyed it from start to finish.

For me, loved the Legacy Maple & Legacy Mahogany the most.

Thanks for posting.

Re: Michael Miley

It's a very good album. I wasn't much of a fan of Hollow Bones but for me this is a return to form.

Some nice playing again too.

Re: Namm 2019 rumors

I'm a Sabian guy and I'm really not a fan of that new logo one bit.

Hopefully it's a temporary thing seeing the reaction, pretty much all of it negative.

If you're trying to be edgy and appeal...

Re: Hey Joe: Great drumming or overplaying?

I'd have to disagree that Buddy Miles has been forgotten, we're discussing him on a thread about Mitch Mitchell. Buddy musically had his own thing/projects going on, where up to that point Mitchell...

Re: Hey Joe: Great drumming or overplaying?

I wonder if guitarists have the same Debate about Hendrix over on Guitaristsworld.com?

Hendrix once said that he liked the dynamic Mitchell/The Experience gave the their music, yes at times it’s...

Same before and after. Doubt it will happen again to be honest so I’m very grateful.

Couple of images I have of one of the dates. My kit is the Pearl up front ready for our support slot. Stephen...

Re: I saw "Bohemian Rhapsody"

It's a good film and I'm looking forward to getting the Blu-Ray when it comes out as I'd watch it again happily.

However, I did feel slightly uncomfortable with how certain events were changed and...

Re: Your Moment of Glory

It was a support tour with a world renowned UK band a few years ago.

Played to thousands each night, we were given the main acts soundtechs and light technicians for no cost and were treated very,...

Re: Albums that had a huge impact on your current playing?

I wouldn't say my current playing but hearing Mitch Mitchell on Hendrix's 'Axis: Bold as Love' was an absolute revelation as a young boy.

The Who's 'Live at Leeds' and Paul Wellers 'Stanley Road'...

Re: I can't buy a high end snare drum

You can buy a great, used snare for a bargain. Just have to be patient for a good deal coming out of the blue.

All but two of the snares I've ever owned have been second hand and both exceptions...

Re: What's your latest purchase?

I’m pleased to say it made it into the house with no incidences, the SAS would have been proud of the operation I think!

Hate keeping secrets from her and fessed up eventually. She said “Well it...

Re: Who has inspired the most to make people play drums?

Itís got to be Ringo.

The amount of people in interviews who say they started because of him is high, still to this day.

Could be wrong but thatís my gut feeling.
