Re: Hello! (new here) and help!

Spend your money on cymbals first, then get a kit.

Buy used when you can.

Re: Ok, so was this a "thing" at one time or am I crazy? (Cymbal stack question)

I've seen the bell-to-bell stacking before.

Forgive my poor computer skills, but I'm talking about mounting like this.

Ok, so was this a "thing" at one time or am I crazy? (Cymbal stack question)

Revised for clarity's sake:

Seems like I remember at one point back in the 1990's, people were doing cymbal stacking, but in a really weird way. Seems like there was a time where people would...

Re: Advice on value of monster vintage Pearl kit

Dude, if this is indeed the kit of your dreams, I'd be PM'ing the OP and getting a bank loan.

Re: New member looking for advice

If you are looking for guitar advice, I would suggest the Acoustic Guitar Forum. They are a great bunch of folks over there as well!

In addition, go look at short-scale guitars. They are much...

Re: The worst drum /cymbal purchase you ever made

People love 14" floor toms. There's just no substitute for a 16" IMO.

Re: Advice on value of monster vintage Pearl kit

Break it up into two kits.

Kit one:

A double bass, one up, one down kit. The "up" tom could be the 6". The "down" tom could be 8" tom.

Kit two:

Convert the 18" floor tom in to a kick...

Re: How do YOU Tune?

I put on new heads and get lugs to finger tight. Push down with the heel of my hand in the center of the drum like I'm giving it CPR for 3-4 reps. Finger tight again. Go around in a star pattern...

Re: Canít hear my kick!

The guitarists need to turn their amps towards their own heads. I'm not kidding! They need to be tilted towards themselves. Guitar players get a false sense of how loud they really are whenever...

Re: Help a Dad out buying used set for son.

I think you are doing the right thing for looking at used equipment!

Keep your eyes open for someone who is looking to get rid of everything all at once. Usually the more they package together,...

Re: Mounting an iPad to your drumset

This is the one I keep coming back to at Walmart (and it's $12 cheaper at Walmart as well). :)

Re: I hate that Song!!

I don't think that there's a single song out there that I couldn't grasp that I actually wanted to play. Overly-complicated/Syncopated stuff does not appeal to me at all. With that said, I've had...

What's the best way to mount an iPad to your drumset?

Looks like I'm going to be mounting an iPad to my kit somewhere to run my own personal IEM mix.

Any suggestions? Pics?

Re: Wierd set up

Back in the 1990's, I'd thought about experimenting with setting up my drums lefty, but using a slave kick drum pedal and remote HH so I could play righty. However, the amount of time and money it...

Re: First DIY build: Wow, so much I need to ask

Geez, I think I'd just find some cheap hardware to throw on there and have a player's-grade kit and not worry about the finish. Usually from 10 feet back, no one will be able to see any scratches...

Re: The worst drum /cymbal purchase you ever made

I've bought and sold a lot, but I don't think anything was really a "bad" purchase, but I really didn't notice how bad anything was until I got something better. But still, here goes:

10" Sabian...

Re: Gear Sell Off, Best Way To Go About It

The worst part about selling gear on eBay is that you are dealing with musicians who have to be some of the flakiest people I know. I was selling a piece of gear for a substantial sum one time, a...

Re: I need your advice please

Those mounts also add quite a bit of weight as well. I have those mounts on my 14" and 16" toms that used to be "floating." Now, this is the set that stays at home because that 16" floor is pretty...

Re: Maybe I'm done compensating for my height ;)

Quick story: I had my drums set up at church, and I always have the kick coming through on my IEM's. At the time, we were getting the best sound with my D112 miking the lower batter side of the...
