Re: Green Monday?
I wasn't conscientiously aware it was Green Monday however I tend to do the tail-end of my Xmas shopping (either for others or myself!) on this day. I take a day off work every year around this time...

Re: No GAS
Funny you should mention A Customs, Sabian, and selling habits. I am currently in the same exact boat! I always sell gear I know I won't use anymore, and that funds the new stuff!
I too have...

Re: Gigging Mishaps
Only mishap I've ever had was showing up to the gig without my kick beater. I wound up using the butt end of a screwdriver as a beater head - it actually sounded good!

Re: 42-strand snare wires
I use TAMA Snappy or the Gibraltar 42-stranders on all my 14x6.5" metal drums (brass, black nickel, Supra, etc.) Just seems like a nice pairing to my ears. I have yet to try on my wooden snares -...

Re: Can't take PDP seriously somehow
HA! I agree with both those sentiments.
I own a few kits, one of them the PDP New Yorker bop kit. The 18" kick it comes with is right up there sonically with my higher end kits. While the...

Re: Dave DiCenso Live Performance at DCP - Video
He has an incredible feel and movement around the kit - I aspire to get my doubles around the kit like he does!
Also the epitome of drummer faces lol... very into his playing indeed.
I guess he...

Re: PRESENTING : THE TWO-BAG DRUM SET
I use a PDP New Yorker Bop Kit in 18/12/10/13 configuration and somebody on eBay had up for sale the Pearl Midtown carrying cases so I snagged those for $50 but sadly the kick bag is for 16" drums so...

Re: What's your latest purchase?
I thought I would never see myself owning Zildjian cymbals (I have played Sabian for a very long time) but now my tastes are starting to change! Thus I am switching a few components out of my live...

Re: Ultimate paradiddle excercise by Pat Petrillo
Fantastic. I have his book Hands, Grooves, and Fills where I think that comes from. Aside from that, that book has loads of great exercises for the pad and the drum set. I find his "P" "DP" etc...

Re: Dw collectors purple heart
That's awesome. I don't know why I'm such a moron but I've spend hundreds of $$$ on snares and equipment from everyone but DW, yet I find their sound to be what I'm after. I think I just get...

Re: One Drum Set Vs Several Drum Sets?
A lot of people have said what I would have in terms of convenience, availability, etc. I think for me personally it offers some motivation and spice when I play the different kits....keeps it...

Re: To rack or not to rack?
Chalk me up to one of them (save for my Roland V-drums kit)!
It largely depends on how many toms, cymbals, and accessories you bring to the gig. I use a 4-piece kit with 2 crashes, ride, HH, and...

Re: Can a very (!) cheap drumset sound ok..?
Yep, sure can!
I've recorded 4 of my original band's albums on a beat-up Maxxim (or might be CB) drum kit my one guitarist has with an Acrolite snare. All Evans heads on them and they sound...
