Re: I've made a horrific mistake....

Thanks for all the replies! I've decided that these crappy stock heads don't give me a fair reflection on the kit so I've ordered some new ones.

Also just like to point out that I never got rid of...

Re: Steve Judd

Does anyone know what type of hat it is that Steve Judd usually is seen wearing virtually all the time when playing? (Ironically he's not in the picture above).

Random question I know. But yes...

Re: I've made a horrific mistake....

Thanks for the reply, the fundamental note is fine, you hit it and it goes near enough straight away.

However the type of "attacking" tone I want the drum to have is just not presenting itself. At...

I've made a horrific mistake....

Hey guys,

I've made a really bad mistake.... I owned a Mapex Meridian Maple kit and then decided to switch to a 'Gretsch Brooklyn'. Now I know you may all be thinking well this is no bad move......

Approach to voicing/practicing a new sticking around the drum-set?

If there is a topic on this please direct me... a case of myself over-thinking again perhaps??

Re: A very interesting read on practicing

Awesome read.

I definitely prefer mixing it up a bit.... for example if you want to do 16th notes with bass drum variations... I get very bored if I just have to stick to one at a time like......

Re: I Can't Play Without Other Musicians

Wouldn't think it with some of the exceptional bands you have there! (Especially for progressive rock lovers!)

Re: Practice routine for a serious drummer

Don't over-think (my biggest downfall), the best approach is one that Mike Johnston was quoted "The biggest competition when drumming is yourself".... but at the same time remember that practicing...

Re: Still confused - Index finger

My problem with resting it there is that when I then transition to doing doubles therefore having to move my index finger to underneath the stick (or with finger control), just the tip of my finger...

Buying Drum Book PDF's online?

Hello guys,

I was wondering as I am from the U.K. not all the books I take an interest in or sometimes I just can't be bothered waiting for shipping (from abroad or in U.K. lol).

So is there a...

Re: Still confused - Index finger

If I have it slightly lower so it's sitting on that knuckle part I can't get enough finger control when I need it cos I don't have enough finger under the stick (just the tip)... or that's my view...

Alo Fellow Drummies,

I'm still confused about the index finger in my grip when drumming, I am finding at the moment the stick doesn't seem as controlled and it moves up and down the index finger,...

Re: Systematic Or Creative Practice??

Thanks for the reply, I think I worded that sentence badly about getting bored. What I am saying is that when I consistently repeat a good idea of course I am liking it, but I don't want to go on and...

Re: Systematic Or Creative Practice??

I overthink so much it's not even funny! :P

But when I said getting bored I was referring to playing for example a paradiddle but just between the snare and ride or whatever might sound good. I...
